Munich – In the case of Maddie McCann, who has been missing for 16 years, a young Polish woman recently caused a stir: 21-year-old Julia W. claims that she is the girl who disappeared at the time.

A Swiss AI software company took a closer look at the case - and came to a clear conclusion.

Maddie McCann case: "99 percent" not the same person

Christian Fehrlin is CEO of Ava-X, a Swiss IT company specializing in the production of facial recognition software.

The software was used to compare childhood photos of the young Pole and Maddie McCann with current photos of the 21-year-old.

The result was there within seconds: "It is almost impossible that this woman is Maddie McCann," said Fehrlin to the

editorial network Germany (RND)

, "99 percent".

The software saw the similarities between the two girls as so slight that Julia's photos no longer even appeared in the list of possible comparison persons.

Eyes, nose, brows - AI software sees no similarities

The facial features of the two girls are therefore clearly different from each other: the shape of the eyebrows and the nose area is different and the eyes are also much closer together on the Polish woman than on Maddie's face.

According to the software, the photos of the missing Maddie herself look more like former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe than those of the 21-year-old Pole who claims to be the missing girl.

The program has an accuracy of 99.83 percent, the managing director told the

RND

.

"You can save yourself the DNA test in this case," hence Fehrlin's conclusion.

The young Pole still insists on a DNA test.

On her Instagram account "

iammadelemccan

" (en: "I'm Madeleine McCann"), Julia claimed that Maddie's parents agreed to a DNA test.

However, this statement has not yet been officially confirmed.

An

RTL

verification expert is convinced that the 21-year-old Pole's primary concern is to gain notoriety for her claims.

In the past, the young woman has tried several times to make a name for herself with singing videos and model photos.

This time the strategy seems to be working: 1.1 million people are now following the 21-year-old on Instagram.

The Pole regularly posts photos and videos there to prove the alleged similarity to Maddie.

Maddie McCann was abducted from a holiday apartment in Portugal in 2007.

The suspect is German Christian B., who was living in Portugal at the time Maddie disappeared.

He is currently in prison for rape in other cases, he is said to have committed other sexual offenses.
