The National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office (Pnat) did not make a suspensive appeal to the semi-freedom measure granted Thursday by the courts to Alain Ferrandi, sentenced to life imprisonment in 2003 for the assassination in Corsica of the prefect Claude Erignac, a learned this Friday, February 23, AFP from a judicial source.

The Pnat had 24 hours to file this appeal which would have suspended the sentence adjustment measure granted by the court for the application of anti-terrorism sentences to Alain Ferrandi, 62, which is to take effect on March 23, according to this same source.

The prosecution can still make a classic appeal within ten days, without suspending the measure.

Sentence adjustments

After having suffered two refusals, Alain Ferrandi obtained a semi-freedom of a probationary year to a conditional release for a period of ten years, like a month before him Pierre Alessandri, another member of the commando sentenced to life for the assassination February 6, 1998 from the prefect Erignac.

The two men had been released since 2017 after serving the eighteen years of their security period.

These sentence adjustments allow them to work outside during the day, before returning to sleep in Borgo prison (Haute-Corse), where they were transferred in April 2022 after the fatal attack in detention of the third member of the commando Erignac, Yvan Colonna.

The semi-freedom granted on January 31 to Pierre Alessandri paved the way for a resumption of discussions between the State and the Corsican elected officials on the institutional future of the island, to which the President of the Republic was invited on Friday morning. Emanuel Macron.
