The DPRK official pointed out that as long as Washington is persistently seeking to try to deny the DPRK the right to self-defense, the UN Security Council should not remain a passive spectator, considering that the only way to prevent the vicious circle of escalating military tension in the Korean Peninsula and the surrounding area is For the United States to show a clear and practical position, such as abandoning its commitment to deploy strategic assets in South Korea and stopping joint exercises.
He warned that Pyongyang would take parallel countermeasures if the issue of its right to self-defense was brought to the UN Security Council, instigated and led by the United States.
