From Maradona to Messi: the City already has a route with World Cup murals

2023-02-24T10:03:02.017Z

Two months after the Olympic return, San Telmo, Palermo and San Cristóbal are just some of the neighborhoods that reflect glory.

Everyone wants a photo with the mural of

Lionel Messi

and

the World Cup in Qatar

.

And the dream is possible, because several artists decided to capture in different corners of the

City

that and other moments that made the country explode with joy.

Thus, two months after the Olympic round in Qatar 2022, the City already has a

route of the World Cup murals.

The

tours, which attract tourists and locals,

can be done on foot, but also by bicycle or by combining means of transport.

And they are inserted in the

tourist circuits

offered by the Government of Buenos Aires.

For example, at

Callao 501 (at the entrance to the notable Los Galgos bar), Messi lifts the Cup

and takes an inevitable photo.

It is made with little veneers that are not damaged by the passage of time, light or humidity.

It was made by Mosaico Nacional, a group of artists that emerged 12 years ago with the premise of making

murals that represent Argentine history.

Lionel Messi lifts the World Cup on a mural made with little veneers at the entrance to Bar Los Galgos, on Callao avenue.

For his part, the renowned

Alfredo Segatori

signed his intervention of 400 square meters within the framework of the Microcentro Red Cultural program.

On the Lavalle ramp and staircase, between Alem and 25 de Mayo, he made a large Argentine flag in homage to La Scaloneta, as Lionel Scaloni's team that won the World Cup was known.

It's called

World Champions and

it's part of the Segatori series called Outburst of Color.

The downtown area, Constitución and even the

Historic Center

also have their murals on Maradona, Messi and the champion team.

Among the traditional attractions, such as the Zanjón de Granados, the Minimum House, the mythical Bar Sur, the Old Warehouse, the San Telmo Market or the Museum of Contemporary Art

In San Juan y Solís, in San Cristóbal, there is

"the world's largest mural of Diego Armando Maradona"

.

With its 40 meters wide by 45 meters high, it unfolds on the party wall of a 12-story building.

It was signed by the artist Martín Ron and it was inaugurated on October 30, the same day Diez had his birthday.

Diego from the 1990 World Cup in Italy

.

And there was no shortage of neighbors, motorists and pedestrians who asked him for divine "help" in the most difficult moments of the World Cup.

Close to Diego, but further towards the Old Town, another wall recreates one of the many unforgettable images of Messi in Qatar.

He is seen doing

the "Topo Gigio" celebration,

in an image that went viral during the match against the Netherlands.

It measures 2.5 meters and was made by the artist Maximiliano Bagnasco, who also signed a wall with Maradona, but in Canning.

Messi's version of him can be seen on Bolívar 949.

Also on Bolívar, but at 1084, there is a Maradona, although from 2016. It is a work by David Luzza, who portrayed him

carrying the ball (a yellow sun) with the light blue and white number 10 shirt.

While the mural that recreates a Diego Maradona turned angel

is in Aristóbulo del Valle 50, eight blocks from the Bombonera.

The author is also Alfredo Segatori, who began painting it the same day that Diez died and it was inaugurated on February 19, 2021. It measures 20 meters high by 40 meters wide.

It is within the La Boca Circuit and is part of the tours that the City offers to discover the work of Benito Quinquela Martín, the Usina del Arte, the Film Museum, the Historical Museum of La Boca or the Nicolás Avellaneda Transporter Bridge, which returned to function for walks on Fridays and Saturdays.

Maradona made angel, the work that Segatori painted when the Ten died.

"I knew I had to paint Messi, with the bisht, lifting the World Cup for the first time as soon as I saw him, because he was different from the other World Cups. It is indisputable that Messi won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar," Maximiliano Bagnasco told

Clarín

just under a month ago when he inaugurated the mural on the corner of

Darwin and Gorriti,

in Palermo Hollywood.

The owner of a corral of materials that is behind the wall offered the place to the artist and it already appears as

"Messi corner" on Google Maps.
