The day came, "TQG" (which means you got too big) was finally released, the first collaboration between two Colombian powers: Karol G and Shakira.

The song, which premiered at midnight this Friday, February 24, Miami time, is a female empowerment song where each of the performers describe their liberation and growth after the end of a relationship.

The urban theme begins with a Karol G on the roof of a structure and falls from it when she confronts an ex-partner in the lyrics.

"You left saying that you surpassed me and you got a new girlfriend / what she does not know is that you are still seeing all the stories of me,"

sings Karol G.

And he adds: "Tell your new baby that I don't compete for men / to stop pulling that at least I had you pretty."

Shakira begins the song in a cold setting, surrounded by ice floes and wearing a metallic blue dress.

She says in the lyrics that "seeing you with another hurt me but I'm set for mine / I forgot what we lived through and that's what offended you."

Although no specific names are given, social networks ensure that both interpreters sing to their ex-partners: Anuel AA and Gerard Piqué.

The collaboration everyone was waiting for

Rumors of this collaboration began at the beginning of the year, but the news was confirmed by "La Bichota" on her social networks this week.

"We know you were waiting for it and here we are," said Karol G in a post that was shared in a collaborative format with Shakira.

"TQG" is part of "Mañana ser bonito", the fourth studio album by the native of Medellín.

Karol G told Zane Lowe from Apple Music how she asked Shakira to collaborate with her on the song.

In the interview with Apple Music, Karol G said that before calling his compatriot he was seeing what was happening with Shakira in his personal life and decided to make that contact.

"Sorry to call you directly, but I think I have a song," Karol G told Apple Music.

"Maybe you'll be glad to hear it because I think it represents a moment in your life," the "Tusa" interpreter told Shakira.

"Tomorrow will be beautiful", the new album by Karol G

In his Instagram account, he said that this is a "project to which I have dedicated so much love and time."

The album has 17 tracks, including hits like "X si volvemos" with Romeo Santos, "Provenza" or "Cairo" with his producer, Ovy On The Drums.

The interpreter said in an interview with the American program CBS Mornings that her positive attitude is what led to the name of the album.

The album was born from a difficult moment in her life, Karol G tells CBS and in the process of pain, she explains, she talked to herself and told herself that tomorrow would be better, that it will be beautiful.

"It was difficult for me to finish the album," the Colombian told CBS.

"I'm a perfectionist because I want people to really connect with everything. With the sound, with the lyrics, with the visuals. It was difficult but I feel like I'm ready," added Karol G.

The Colombian told The New York Times that the production would have very honest lyrics that will lead her followers to enter her life a little.

Karol G told the outlet that the first songs she composed were full of sadness and anger at the end of her relationship with Anuel AA.

"People are going to know a lot about my personal life with my songs. But I don't want to have the songs inside me anymore, because I know that people can heal many things with music. Writing songs for me is a very good way to heal things I can't explain," Karol G told The New York Times.
