Saint-Nazaire: attackers recognized a year and a half later thanks to video protection

After laborious months of work, Saint-Nazaire investigators have just solved an important case dating back to the summer of 2021. On the night of August 22, after an evening in a nightclub on Place du Commando, in Saint-Nazaire ( Loire-Atlantique), three boys aged 27 to 28 had been attacked by five younger individuals.

One of the victims had been stabbed in the lower abdomen and had been hospitalized, being prescribed 20 days of ITT.

His comrades had meanwhile been slightly injured.

At the time, nothing had identified the perpetrators, aged 23 to 25.

The Saint-Nazaire security unit for attacks on persons had been seized of the investigation.

A piece of license plate identified thanks to the video

According to an initial neighborhood inquiry, it had been established that the perpetrators had fled with a Clio car.

Secondly, the City's CCTV cameras were very useful in recognizing a piece of license plate, as well as the role of each protagonist during the drama.

These elements allowed the investigators to make the link with an individual, already known to the police, domiciled in Orvault, in the Nantes suburbs.

Thanks to additional investigations carried out on his cell phone, the investigators discovered that he was indeed located in Saint-Nazaire at the time of the sequence, and that he had been in contact with another individual present that same evening and domiciled in Saint-Nazaire. -Etienne-de-Montluc.

These two protagonists were arrested at their home and placed in police custody on October 18, 2022. The clothes they were wearing during the brawl confirmed their presence.

They also recognized it during the hearings.

Other elements collected during their police custody made it possible to identify three other suspects: one living in Saint-Herblain, the other in Orvault and the last in Bezons, in Val-d'Oise.

The first two responded to summonses from the police, while the Bezonnais, who could not be found for a time, finally presented himself to the Argenteuil police station (in the Paris region) and partially acknowledged the facts.

The latter will be tried on October 24, 2023 in Saint-Nazaire for acts of intentional violence with a weapon.

The others are summoned at the same time but for intentional violence in a meeting.
