(CNN Spanish) --
The 32 countries that will participate in the 2023 Women's Soccer World Cup in Australia and New Zealand - among which are six Latin American teams, the United States and Spain - are already defined.
The ninth edition of the cup will be played from July 20, the day of the first three group stage matches, until August 20, the day of the final.
It is the first time that 32 teams will play.
The first edition of this World Cup was played in 1991 and only 12 teams participated.
The quota was increased to 16 in the 1999 World Cup in the United States and to 24 in 2015 in the tournament in Canada.
Until now the United States has been the absolute leader of this tournament: they have four cups to their credit, followed by Germany, with two, and Norway and Japan with one each.
