US Presidential Election 2024: Joe Biden is ready. Says his wife Jill in an interview

Unlike US President Joe Biden, his wife Jill seems to know what his plans are: he will run for president again. Only the time of the announcement would not be fixed yet.

US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden (2020, in Wilmington, Delaware): "He says he's not done yet"

There has recently been much speculation as to whether US President Joe Biden will actually run again on the Democrat side in the 2024 US election.

Biden's wife and First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, has now given one of the clearest indications yet that Biden will run for a second term.

In an interview with the US news agency The Associated Press (AP), she said that there was "just about" nothing left to do but find the time and place for the announcement.

Although Biden has said many times that he is seeking re-election, he has yet to make his decision official.

Again and again the question arises as to whether he is too old for a second term.

The 80-year-old is already the oldest president of the United States when he takes office.

At the end of his second term in early 2029, he would be 86 years old.

"He says he's not done yet," Jill Biden told the AP in Nairobi, the second and final stop on her five-day trip to Africa.

“He hasn't finished what he started.

And that's what matters.” During his State of the Union address, Biden repeatedly said he wanted “to get the job done.”

Jill Biden asked, "How many times does he have to say it for you to believe it?"

Biden's environment says that he will probably announce his renewed candidacy in April.

The White House had initially targeted February.

April marks the end of the first quarter of fundraising for the year - an important indicator of how a candidate's campaign coffers are doing.

And the donations only really start to flow in once the candidacy has been officially announced.

Biden's Democratic predecessor and former boss, Barack Obama, also made his re-election intentions public in April.

Jill Biden is considered a key figure in the President's environment when it comes to his plans for the future.

"Because I'm his wife," she said.

But she weighed down whether she was the decisive voice when it came to her husband's re-election efforts.

"Of course he'll listen to me because we're married," she said.

But, she later added, "he makes his own decisions, believe me."
