The protest against the legal revolution was joined yesterday by an unusual figure, Ziv Desha, head of the Zichron Ya'akov council who is a Likud center member and who defines himself as "one who has been hanging Likud election ads since the age of 10, with flour and water glue."
In 2008, Desha published a column in the "Likhodnik" newspaper, under the title "Honor and pride to be a Likudnik", in which he described how veterans of the movement teach the young ones "what loyalty to the movement and the way is".
Last night he stood with the hundreds of demonstrators who crowded the entrance to the settlement and listened to the speech of the resident of the settlement, Major General (Res.) Avi Mizrahi.
To those who were surprised to see Likud member Desha standing among the protesting demonstrators, he answered "Menachem Begin would also have gone out tonight to demonstrate."
He also carried a sign with a quote from the words of the late Begin in a radio broadcast on May 15, 1948, upon the establishment of the State of Israel, "And within our country justice will be the supreme ruler, the ruler also over its rulers."
Later, Desha published a Facebook post in which he explained, "These are days of turmoil and crisis. This is not a struggle of the right or the left, it must be together, all of us."

"I will not stand by," Desha wrote, "I joined the Likud in the spirit of Menachem Begin's leadership and I see before my eyes how the path is changing. It is time to tell my friends and acquaintances in the Likud movement. Let's come to our senses. Let's stop."
He called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, "You are in charge, you are responsible" and explained that "every system has room for changes, including the judicial system, but it must be done by consensus."
He elaborated, "There is no place for harming the status of the Supreme Court; it is not and is forbidden to appoint legal advisers as positions of trust; it is strictly forbidden for politicians to have a majority in the committee for selecting judges; the position of the judiciary must be firm and clear. It is the one that protects us. It is the one that guarantees that we will have a state here A proper democracy before its citizens and the rest of the world."

"I joined the protesters here at the Zichron Ya'akov intersection tonight because it hurts me too," he noted and added, "it hurts to see the exclusion of women from the decision-making space, it hurts to see the radicalization of positions, the messages that are being spread, the demonstrations of so many, who will soon lose faith in the country they gave birth to They worked so hard to establish it."
He called: "It's time to stop. We are the elected representatives of the public. It is our duty to ensure that our country continues forever and ever. In safety, tolerance and the most prosperous democracy possible."
To those who fear for his future in the party, he went ahead and stated, "I have never been afraid to say my opinion in public, and today more than ever."
