The Deputy Chairman of the Media Policy Committee of the Russian State Duma, Alexander Yushchenko, announced that the European Union sanctions announced today against the “Russia Segodnya” media group are not surprising.
“There is a hybrid war currently taking place, and in this case the West is also fighting the media that works for Russia,” Novosti news agency quoted Yushchenko as saying today.
Earlier today, the Council of the European Union included the “Russia Segodnya” media group on its sanctions list, in continuation of its attempts to muzzle the Russian media and prevent it from reporting the truth.
In turn, the group's executive director, Kirill Vyshinsky, confirmed that the European Union's inclusion of him on the list of recent sanctions against Russia did not stir him up.
It is noteworthy that Vyshinsky is a Russian citizen of Ukrainian origin, who was arrested by the Kiev regime on charges of loyalty to Russia until the Russian authorities handed him over as part of a prisoner exchange deal.
