New restaurants, bars and a brand new neighborhood grill to discover in Buenos Aires

2023-02-25T10:20:56.882Z

News for different types of public in the gastronomic circuits of Chacarita, Abasto, Belgrano and Palermo.

The gastronomic map of the City of Buenos Aires is constantly being transformed with the opening of ventures that range from various bars for a public that increasingly demands more of contemporary cocktails to accessible restaurants for a more massive sector.

One of the most anticipated openings of the summer is

Kōnā Corner, the Japanese restaurant by Narda Lepes and Inés de los Santos

in Bajo Belgrano.

In the coming weeks the inauguration of another great oriental cuisine venture is coming: the new and spacious headquarters of the legendary

Osaka in a new circuit of the Colegiales neighborhood.

These

six openings in the neighborhoods of Chacarita, Abasto, Belgrano and Palermo

give an overview of the dynamism that local gastronomy continues to have despite the economic crisis and the time that has elapsed since the "post-pandemic furor".

New restaurants and bars to discover in Buenos Aires

Sumaq in Palermo

Sumaq arrived to compete in the big leagues of Peruvian cuisine in Buenos Aires.

The Quechua term that gives its name to this new Peruvian restaurant (in Palermo code “peruvian food”) means beautiful and also delicious.

The

gastronomic proposal -fit to compete in the big leagues of Peruvian cuisine in Buenos Aires-

, the venue and the service are up to such grand adjectives.

An elegant and contemporary room with capacity for 200 people and an impressive bar from which some 25 classic and author drinks come out, welcome Sumaq,

one of the most resonant openings of this Buenos Aires summer.

Sumaq's spacious hall.

Behind the kitchen team is Andrés Pielago Fuentes Rivera, better known as Chevy, with extensive experience in gastronomic spaces such as Florería Atlántico, La Mar and La Catedral del Pisco.

The venture is owned by Miguel Cisneros, who also owns Misky Wasi (Yerbal 2499, Flores).

To start, a courtesy of the house: the cachanga

(a kind of Peruvian fried cake)

with plantain and purple potato chips

accompanied with garlic mayonnaise, huacatay and huancaina sauces.

Lots of crispness and flavor.

For ceviche

lovers

, the tasting ($7,000) that includes

a version with yellow chili, another with Nikkei and a third with rocoto

is a great tour of flavors.

Sumaq's sushi.

The

noodles with prawns and macho sauce

combine aromas and textures of the sea with the forcefulness and silkiness of good homemade pasta.

The chicken cause

($3,500) surprises with the genuine hue (without dyes) of the blue potato.

The menu is completed with

chaufas

(starting at $4,800),

anticuchos

(starting at $2,000), stir-fries, pieces of

sushi, and a whole huge grill section

(from pork matambrito and sweetbreads to grilled octopus and lobster).

El Salvador 5729, Palermo.

Hours: Wednesday to Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Chacarita sofa

Sofa, the new Dorrego gastronomic pole bar in Chacarita.

In times when the imperative of any gastronomic enterprise is to have a concept that gives an integral meaning to its proposal, Sillón simplifies its presentation with a sentence: "

The concept is a bar."

An elementary definition but by no means modest.

This corner of Chacarita invites nothing less than to

feel comfortable and relax to drink and eat well.

Sabrina Traverso and Agostina Elena, the last winner of the Gran Bartender reality show

, found in the place that until last year the successful restaurant Apu Nena occupied the house where they could house their dream of owning their own bar.

They incorporated a first floor that belonged to another business and achieved

a contemporary space with at least two different climates.

Couch's Drink A: gin;

apple, celery and kale, citrus cordial, Cinzano Pro Spritz and kale cookie.

In the letter they sought to follow the line of "no concept".

Signature cocktails do not have conventional names but are differentiated by letters of the alphabet.

From A to L (they plan to reach Z)

there is alchemy for all tastes.

A good recommendation for vermouth lovers is the K ($1,700) made from white wine, Tanqueray gin, honey, citrus, white flowers and spices.

To eat, various textures and flavors in the "plates" format, ideal so that the cocktail bar does not lose prominence.

The hit is the casserole of portobellos, oysters, shitake, gorgonzola cheese and caramelized onion cream ($2,500).

The 70% chocolate marquise, salted caramel ice cream and Merkén crunch ($2,000), a closing as comforting as the sofa in the house itself.

Dorrego 1301, Chacarita.

Tori Chipchi in Abasto

Tori Chipchi's wood-fired chicken.

Because not all are high-budget proposals with trendy dishes, this place in the Abasto neighborhood is presented

as a canchera and accessible option but also specialized

, in this case in

the most popular dish in Peru: wood-fired chicken.

It is a project of the Peruvian chef Raúl Zorrilla Porta, also owner of the restaurant Kamay Lounge (Marcelo Torcuato de Alvear 975, Retiro).

The hallmark of their chickens?

They are

marinated in an ultra-secret formula of almost 3 dozen spices that give it its unique flavor.

They can be ordered whole

($3,900 with sides)

but also portioned

(half chicken for $2,500 or quarter for $1,500).

For fans of

crispy fritters, the Broaster chicken

(whole chicken, $4,200 and half chicken, $2,500).

The

Chicken Bucket (battered and boneless with garnishes) comes in three formats

: 4 pieces for $1,500, 8 pieces for $2,700, and 12 pieces for $4,500.

Tori Chipchi, an accessible restaurant in Abasto.

Connoisseurs of Peruvian cuisine will appreciate the

anticuchos

de corazón, bife de chorizo, chicken and even Tomahawk beef.

Everything can be ordered to go.

To drink, beers, wines, cocktails and lemonades.

The place is spacious (it has capacity for about 200 covers on its two floors) and private rooms for 10, 15 and 30 people, which are the only ones that require prior reservation.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday it is a good idea to go to dinner around 8:00 p.m. if you want to avoid queuing.

Corrientes 3158, Supply.

Open from Wednesday to Monday, from 12 to 24. Instagram: @torichipchi

Maure grill in Chacarita

Maure Parrilla's gizzards.

The gastronomic offer of the Chacarita neighborhood grows

in the Dorrego and Newbery poles with exponents of

today's gastronomy and cocktails

.

Luckily

there is also space for proposals from Buenos Aires

such as the traditional and always fulfilling neighborhood grills.

On the busy corner of Maure and Córdoba,

a business of this type operated years ago, which at the beginning of 2023 not only changed owners but, through renovation works, mutated into

a very different proposal.

The owners of the neighboring Almacén communal (Guevara 405) and Veredita de vinos (Newbery 3867) are behind this new venture that, although it

honors the DNA of the "neighborhood parri", adds added value: service, menu and details of a contemporary restaurant.

At Maure Parrilla, gourmet garnishes coexist with the usual ones.

In other words, in Maure there is

a siphon on the table and a large bottle of soft drink

, but also more than a dozen

red wines of 7

different strains (from $2,700) as well as

whites, oranges, rosés and sparkling wines.

Side dishes such as mixed salad and French fries a la Provençal but also more creative ones such as grilled onions with smoked eggplant purée ($1400).

In total they offer 6 cuts of beef and pork bondiola ($3,500 or $2,600 for a half portion) and various offal (chinchulines for $2,100 and $1,600 for a half portion).

Highly recommend the empty one that comes out to the requested point ($4500 or $3400 for the half portion).

Desserts?

Infallible classics such as Cheese and sweet ($1,300), mixed flan ($1,300) and Pumpkins in syrup with cream ($900).

Maure and Cordoba, Chacarita.

Open from Monday to Thursday from 8:00 p.m. Friday to Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 8:00 p.m. Instagram: @maureparrilla

Malparido and Malaria Tintobar in Belgrano

One of Malparido's bars.

Eduardo Demaestri is a gastronomic entrepreneur determined to

turn Crámer avenue in Belgrano into the “cocktail district”

.

His proposals -each one has a different drink as its axis- aim at a

young audience

.

He first inaugurated the Malasangre vermouth bar (Crámer 2704) and between the end of last year and the beginning of 2023 he landed two new bars a few blocks from there.

One of them is

Malparido

, which is presented as the

"first tonic bar":

this fizzy drink, of which they have

more than 15 different varieties,

has an enormous role on the menu.

It is a very spacious (300 covered square meters) and eye-catching place, decorated with Japanese iconography and illustrations and

a large terrace with an independent bar

, one of those spaces that are highly valued in the Buenos Aires summer.

Another distinctive feature of Malparido is its

range of Asian drinks

: from Japanese beers to Soju (a Korean rice distillate highly sought after by fans of series from that country like The Squid Game).

It can also be tasted in signature drinks such as Aiko (Watermelon, mango, curcuma, cider and tonic ice cream soju for $1600).

In the Malparido bar, the tonic has great prominence.

Asian specialties

also come out of the kitchen

:

gyozas from $1,600

,

spring rolls from $2,200

and

Indian pakoras with coriander and sweet chili mayonnaise for $2,400.

Malaria Tintobar is only 4 blocks away and was designed as a wine bar for young people.

In addition to having around 100 labels that are offered by the bottle and by the glass, they serve classic and signature wine-based cocktails.

Malaria, a wine bar for the young public.

The gastronomic proposal is tapas:

from a selection of cold cuts at $3,200 to prawns breaded in panko and coconut with green and lime aioli and mix of leaves ($3,200) and double-cooked fried potatoes in green onion and mint ($ 1900).

Malaria Tinto Bar opens from Sunday to Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from Friday to Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Av. Cramer 2830, Belgrano.
