The Red. optimistic colour. Vibrant. Passionate, a color that settles and stabilizes us at times when we have to stomp. And according to the new fashion trends, it is the color of 2023. (CNN Spanish) --

The red.

optimistic colour.

Vibrant.

Passionate, a color that settles and stabilizes us at times when we have to stomp.

And according to the new fashion trends, it is the color of 2023. Yes, we have to say goodbye to pink (for now), a quick goodbye to magenta –which we never really liked very much and is a difficult color– and give a strong welcome to red.

For followers of Hindu beliefs, red is the color of the first chakra.

The one that is located at the base of the back and is related to mother earth.

Which is our root!

And it is a color that implies joy and strength, although it can also be a symbol of caution, war and anger.

Even so, it is the color that settles us and gives us great strength of soul and body.

And it is our brave and heroic moment.

And beyond the aspect of pure fashion – it must be remembered that for centuries, in weddings in China and India – wearing red is the tradition and the color of good luck and good auspices, with many symbols and meanings.

Their myths and legends determine the atmosphere of the ceremonies, which is why weddings are decorated with objects, garlands and cheerful red lamps, as a sign of future prosperity, money and happiness.

And in India, the red sari is in honor of the goddess Durga – who represents the divine shakti – a feminine cosmic energy that protects against evil.

Isn't all this interesting?

This makes the trend of red as a fashion color even more interesting.

Well, beyond the aesthetics of fashion, red is full of emotions, myths and symbolism!

Among the international designers who have always loved –and still love- red, it is worth mentioning Valentino and his famous Valentino red, which is his creative hallmark par excellence.

Once -I have interviewed him several times- he told me that “a woman dressed in red can never look bad or sad.

Red rejuvenates and is like wearing a smile and a moment of passion on your body”.

Bravo!

Oscar de la Renta also loved red.

And he is adored by Narciso Rodríguez, whose dress for Zara was bought instantly by Queen Letizia of Spain.

And he is often worn by Catherine, the Princess of Wales, to whom he looks beautiful.

And ever since singer Rihanna announced her pregnancy at the Super Bowl show in a big red coat by Alaïa – a tribute to Norma Kamali's famous red “parachute” coat, always worn by the late fashion guru André Leon Talley –! We all knew that that moment was from the future of fashion 2023!

So, welcome red to our changing rooms!
