Peruvian President Dina Boluarte announced the "
final recall
" of her ambassador to Mexico on Friday, citing the Mexican head of state's support for deposed Peruvian President Pedro Castillo.
Dina Boluarte, who succeeded Castillo after the latter's arrest on December 7, denounced the "
unacceptable
" interference by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador in
Peruvian "
internal affairs ".

Diplomatic relations between the two countries have now been downgraded to the level of charges d'affaires, said Dina Boluarte.
Peru had already expelled the Mexican ambassador to Lima in late December, after that country granted political asylum to Castillo's wife and two sons.
The Mexican head of state, from the left like Pedro Castillo, said on Friday that he wanted to "
continue to support the unjustly deposed president
".
Castillo is accused of having attempted a coup d'etat by wanting to dissolve the Parliament which was about to oust him from power.
His dismissal and arrest sparked two months of protests across the country, in which at least 48 civilians and a member of the security forces died.
