The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union announced the formation of a delegation to visit Syria, affirming its support and standing by its people, calling for the need to work on its return to its Arab surroundings and to exercise its role at various levels.
In the final statement issued by its thirty-fourth conference held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, with the participation of a Syrian delegation headed by Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hamouda Sabbagh, the union said: “The conferees declare their solidarity with sister Syria, and the formation of a delegation from the Arab Parliamentary Union to confirm its support and stand with its people, and continue to provide the necessary capabilities.” To stand with them after the earthquake that hit a number of cities and villages there.
The statement stressed the need for joint Arab action at all levels for the return of Syria to its Arab surroundings, and the exercise of its role in the Arab, regional and international arenas.
Concerning the Palestinian issue, the statement renewed the position of the Parliamentary and Solidarity Union, supportive and firm, for every effort that pours into supporting the central cause of the Arab and Islamic nations, which is the Arab Palestinian cause, stressing the determination and insistence on exerting the precious and precious things in order to declare the establishment of the Palestinian state with full sovereignty and dignity on its national soil and its capital, Al-Quds Al-Sharif. .
The statement also renewed the call on the UN Security Council and all active international humanitarian organizations, democratic parliaments and inter-parliamentary unions to assume their legal responsibilities, work more seriously, and coordinate and cooperate with each other to put an end to the inhumane violations and practices of the occupying Israeli entity against the brotherly Palestinian people, as well as exerting all kinds of pressure on The occupation authorities, to comply with the decisions of international legitimacy and stop all expansionist settlement plans, and the bloody massacres they are committing against this defenseless people, to curb the settlers and their attacks on Islamic and Christian sanctities, and to curb their reckless and repeated hostile provocations in the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the parts of Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
The statement affirmed Iraq's support and solidarity with it, and the need to provide everything necessary to enhance its stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of terrorism, to which it has been subjected over the past years.
The statement indicated that the challenges of the current Arab scene are becoming increasingly difficult and complex in light of the phenomenon of terrorism, violence and extremism, reiterating the categorical rejection of all types of murder and crime, regardless of motives and reasons, and calling for strengthening cooperation and coordination between various Arab and regional countries and the international community, to put a final end to the scourge of terrorism that crosses borders and continents.
The statement also affirmed the rejection of any thought calling for hatred, racism, exclusion and marginalization under any pretext, calling on religious, intellectual and educational institutions to do what they must in order to confront the ideas of extremism, violence and terrorism.
The statement expressed the determination of the Arab parliamentarians and their insistence on activating parliamentary diplomacy to be a positive and effective influence on the official diplomacy of our countries, with the aim of advancing the reality of the Arab nation and meeting the aspirations of our peoples to achieve progress, reform and sustainable development, as well as strengthening the foundations of joint Arab action and adherence to the principles of Arab solidarity, with the aim of reaching a ground level. A joint foundation for Arab security that contributes to the fight against terrorism and the protection and stability of the Arab region, which encourages more investments and development projects that bring prosperity and well-being to our Arab peoples.
