The head of the Emergency and Ambulance System at the Tartous Health Directorate, Dr. Firas Hussamou, spoke in an exclusive interview with SANA about the human and ethical sense that the ambulance staff provided, during its participation in the rescue operations for the earthquake victims in the governorates of Lattakia and Aleppo, as a model of the high and permanent readiness that characterizes the elements of the system, consisting of 250 nurses, paramedics and drivers. In addition to the technical and administrative staff with its 25 cars equipped with the latest emergency safety equipment, pointing out that five ambulances went to Lattakia and four to Aleppo with their full crews, where they participated in rescuing the victims to hospitals in the affected areas, in addition to their participation in the funeral of the victims to their areas.

Hussamo emphasized that the system is on alert after the end of the mission in those areas in anticipation of any emergency, since the earthquake is considered a prolonged disaster, which requires developing a plan to deal with its consequences later and not just a temporary response, noting the cooperation between the cadres of the Syrian ambulance system as a whole in this disaster, and their consideration Real soldiers are on alert and always ready in anticipation of any emergency to preserve the lives of citizens in the most difficult circumstances.

Providing psychological treatment and calming the survivors and the families of the victims was one of the tasks of the paramedics of the system, in addition to the emergency medical treatment, as said the nurse, Asim Hula, who was one of the crews participating in the ambulance operations in Lattakia, saying: “The paramedics often worked as rescuers alongside the members of the civil defense In cases that need the effort of the human element in places that rescue mechanisms cannot reach.” He did not hide his shock at the survival of an 11-year-old girl who was in good condition and her aid to Tishreen Hospital in Lattakia, while the rest of her five family members died under the rubble, and the joy of a man being pulled out With his pregnant wife and their child seven hours after the disaster, considering that every survivor of this disaster has been born again.

The driver, Saeed Muhammad, talked about some of the cases he witnessed during his participation in the rescue operations in the governorates of Aleppo and Lattakia, including tears of joy that accompanied everyone who was present at the moment a child was removed from under the rubble while she was still alive.
