A few days after the UN Security Council condemned the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to establish thousands of settlement units in the West Bank, and affirmed its opposition to all unilateral measures in the occupied Palestinian territories, the occupation announced new plans to establish 8,157 settlement units in clear disregard for the international community.

The National Bureau for Defending Land and Resisting Settlements of the Palestine Liberation Organization stated in a report published today on its website that the occupation continues to expand settlements with the support of the American administration, which exerted pressure in the Security Council to cancel a session that was scheduled for last Monday to discuss a draft resolution prepared by the UAE in coordination with the Palestinian side. The Council condemns the settlement operations, and calls on Israel to stop them, as they are illegal according to international law. The Council suffices to issue a presidential statement expressing deep concern and resentment, condemning and rejecting Israel's declaration of its intention to continue expanding settlement operations, without calling for stopping these plans.

The report pointed out that the occupation authorities announced yesterday plans to establish 7,157 settlement units to expand 37 settlements established in separate areas of the West Bank, and 1,000 settlement units to expand 6 settlements within a huge settlement bloc located south of Bethlehem.

The report indicated that the occupation is preparing to start implementing settlement plans in occupied Jerusalem that were announced in the past years that would change the status quo in the city and threaten the Palestinian presence in it, indicating that the occupation focuses on the north and south of the city to consolidate its isolation from its depth in the West Bank, where it will reside. A settlement that includes 9,000 settlement units on the lands of Jerusalem Airport in the town of Qalandia, north of the city, while it will expand 3 settlements south of it to create two settlement blocs in the north and south that will prevent East Jerusalem from being connected to the rest of the West Bank, in addition to establishing a settlement outpost on the lands of the abandoned village of Lifta Al-Fawqa and settlement roads In the towns of Jabal Abu Ghoneim, Sur Baher, Umm Tuba, and Beit Safafa, it links the settlements established in northeastern, western, and central Jerusalem.

The report stated that the occupation forces demolished several homes and 8 agricultural and commercial facilities in the village of Wadi Jamal in Jerusalem, and the towns of Qusra in Nablus, Husan and Al-Walaja in Bethlehem, Al-Buwaib in Hebron, Al-Jalama in Jenin, and Duke Al-Tahta in Jericho, while notifying houses, agricultural facilities and water wells in the towns of Kafr Aqab. in Jerusalem, Beit Ummar in Hebron, Duke Al Tahta in Jericho, and Aqaba in Tubas.

The report stated that the settlers seized areas of the lands of the towns of Kafr Al-Dik and Bruqin in Salfit and Al-Khader in Bethlehem to establish new settlement outposts, and stormed Al-Shuhada Street and the Old City in Hebron and the town of Silwad in Ramallah and Khirbet Al-Hafirah in Jenin, and attacked Palestinian homes, while they cut down 65 trees. Fruitful in the eastern town of Al-Laban in Nablus, and assaulted farmers in Khallet Makhoul, the village of Al-Auja, and the Al-Maarajat area in the northern Jordan Valley.
