Hospitals in Bolivia are relentless with waves of children affected by the worst dengue epidemic in a decade.
In the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra alone, the region most affected by the health crisis, confirmed cases already exceed 5,000 and suspected infections are around 25,000.
In total, 6,845 cases have been registered in the country, according to the Ministry of Health.
The death toll stands at 26, 19 of them from Santa Cruz.
The federal government and the Santa Cruz authorities have agreed to a truce in their political conflicts to launch voluntary fumigation campaigns, hoping to reduce mosquito nests.
The Vice Minister of Health System Management, Álvaro Terrazas, pointed out last week that due to the saturation of patients, 40 beds were set up, 50% of them for Intensive Care rooms in the Japonés and Niño hospitals in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
