Hard to watch - 17-year-old brutally beat a teacher who took his Nintendo Switch (Flagler County Sheriff's Office)

Disturbing video has captured the moment a six-foot-tall 17-year-old Florida student punches a teaching assistant unconscious in a school hallway - after she confiscates his Nintendo Switch.

The student can be seen sprinting towards the teacher, who turns and notices her attack for a split second before he pushes her to the floor.

The 120-pound student then steps on her, repeatedly kicks the unconscious teacher and punches her 15 times.

Several other staff members from Matanzas High School in Palm Coast, who witnessed the brutal attack, are seen running to pull the boy from the victim, who was rushed to a local hospital. The New York Post reported that she is hospitalized in serious but stable condition and her life is not in danger.

In the footage, a woman is seen running up to the student and grabbing his arm, but she is unable to pull him away from the victim before more people arrive to drag him away.

Even after they manage to pin him to the ground, he still sends his leg out to hit her a few more times.

It eventually took five crew members to restrain him and drag him from her unconscious body while he fought them off.

A separate video released by the Flagler County Sheriff's Office shows the attacker being handcuffed inside the classroom and taken into custody.

"The student stated that he was angry with the victim because she took his Nintendo Switch console during class," a police spokesperson said in a statement.

According to an arrest report, officers arriving at the scene found the teacher bleeding and unconscious. The student attacker began spitting in her direction, telling officers he was "going to kill her" when he returned to school.

According to the officers, the boy told them he would "hit her every time she took his toy," and spit on her as the officers took him away, according to the arrest report. In body camera footage from one of the officers, the student can be seen asking if he is going to jail, while being handcuffed him at school. "For how long?", he asks, and the officer answers him, "I don't know." A few moments later, he says to the policemen: 'Go away. I don't want to go to jail. I have more important things to do.'

During the interrogation, the boy (who lives in a boarding school) repeatedly asked when he was going to be released, and started kicking the table and behaving violently when he didn't get the answers he was hoping for.

"This student's actions are completely horrific and unacceptable," Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staley said in a statement.

"We hope that the victim will recover, both mentally and physically, from this incident."

The teaching assistant who was attacked was identified as Joan Neidich, a 57-year-old mother of two whose young son is also in high school.

The attacking boy, who has special needs, was transferred to the responsibility of the youth department at the Ministry of Justice.

He is in custody and has been charged with the criminal offense of aggravated assault, which is punishable by up to five years in prison.

Volusia County school officials released a statement after the Flagler County Sheriff's Office released the disturbing footage.

"The safety and security of our students and staff is extremely important to us and we will continue to cooperate fully with local authorities as part of the investigation."
