Israel's representatives to the summit in Aqaba said today (Sunday) during the meeting that no further decisions regarding construction in the settlements are planned in the coming months - this is what a political official said after the end of the conference.

However, the political official added that Israel's representatives to the summit stressed at the meeting that there would be no change in the decision made by the cabinet to legalize nine illegal outposts and promote the planning and construction of 9,500 housing units in the settlements.



In the summary statement of the summit in Aqaba published by the Jordanian government, it was stated that Israel undertook not to discuss for the next four months the promotion of the planning and construction of new housing units in the settlements, and also undertook not to legalize additional illegal outposts during the next six months." The Israeli side and the Palestinian side emphasized their commitment to all the previous agreements between the parties and also committed to work on achieving a just and sustainable peace," the statement said.

"The parties committed to work to lower tensions and curb the escalation in the area and prevent further violence."

According to the summary statement, the five delegations that participated in the summit pledged to maintain the status quo in the holy places in Jerusalem and expressed support for Jordan as the sponsor of the holy places for Islam in Jerusalem.

The announcement stated that the parties agreed to promote confidence-building measures between Israel and the Palestinians, as well as to meet again in Sharm el-Sheikh in March to continue the discussions.

The political source noted that the countries participating in the summit in Aqaba reached an agreement on the establishment of a joint security committee that will examine the renewal of security coordination between Israel and the Palestinians, and the Palestinian willingness and ability to bear responsibility for the fight against terrorism in the PA territories.

According to him, it was agreed that the parties will hold another meeting before Ramadan, under the auspices of Egypt, in order to examine the progress in the security axis.

It was also agreed to establish a joint civil committee that will work to promote confidence-building economic measures.

In addition, he said that the heads of the five delegations that participated in the summit met with King Abdullah of Jordan, who welcomed the attempt to promote agreements between the parties ahead of Ramadan and Passover.
