The Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Eng. Hussein Makhlouf, Chairman of the Higher Committee for Relief, discussed, during his meeting today with members of the Relief Subcommittee and the Operations Room in Aleppo Governorate, the measures taken, ways to secure qualified and temporary centers to shelter those affected by the earthquake, and the mechanism for delivering relief supplies and basic services to shelters.

Minister Makhlouf called for the need to update the database of all that comes to the Aleppo governorate in terms of relief aid and medical materials through the airport or land, and to send the lists to the Supreme Committee to classify and move them in coordination with the Higher Committee for Relief and to deliver them to those who deserve them among those affected, pointing to the importance of activating the role of local councils, mayors and committees Neighborhoods to participate in the operations of supervising shelter centers and organizing work in them.

Makhlouf praised the efforts of the Operations Room in Aleppo, developing the response according to developments and requirements, and taking decisions that achieve optimal service for those affected by the earthquake, pointing to the need to simplify procedures and provide possible facilities to citizens.

He pointed out the need to develop implementation plans and rapid time programs to complete the assessment and description of the damaged buildings through the public safety committees to take the necessary decisions regarding them, and to work in parallel to equip the shelters and implement them as quickly as possible, stressing the need to avoid and address cases of defects that may result from the process of characterizing the buildings. affected.

For his part, the Governor of Aleppo, Hussein Diab, explained that a number of sites were selected to be equipped with the necessary services, in preparation for the construction of prefabricated housing units to house those who lost their homes.

A number of members of the Relief Sub-Committee and the Operations Room gave a brief explanation of the measures being taken to contain the earthquake disaster. Focus was placed on equipping shelters according to the specified timetable, moving to prefabricated buildings, and setting up a working mechanism for inspecting damaged homes according to a draft detection mechanism.
