The prosecution had appealed the decision to place the comedian under house arrest, who allegedly suffered a stroke this weekend.

What will happen in the coming months to Pierre Palmade, indicted after a serious traffic accident on February 10?

This Monday, at 11:30 a.m., the investigating chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal must rule on a possible placement in pre-trial detention of the comedian.

A decision all the more scrutinized as, according to several media, the 50-year-old suffered a stroke on Saturday.

Friday February 10, 2023. At the wheel of his car, in which there are two other passengers, the comedian Pierre Palmade drives on the departmental road D372.

Around 7 p.m., near Villiers-en-Bière (Seine-et-Marne), it was the accident.

The vehicle

“collided head-on with a car traveling in the opposite direction”

, which was then hit by a third car.

If the driver of the latter is only

"slightly injured"

, Pierre Palmade and the three passengers of the second vehicle - a man, his 6-year-old son and his pregnant sister-in-law - are hospitalized in serious condition.

Despite an emergency caesarean section, the pregnant woman loses the baby she was carrying.

The autopsy having

"not made it possible to establish whether this child was born alive"

, additional expertise will have to be carried out.

The next day in the middle of the afternoon, the prosecutor Jean-Michel Bourlès, who had just arrived in Melun after nearly four years at the national anti-terrorist prosecution, published a first press release, updated less than two hours later.

The magistrate indicates that the investigation originally opened for "homicide and involuntary injuries by driver resulting in total incapacity for work (ITT) for more than three months" is now being followed up for "homicide and involuntary injuries by driver under the influence of narcotic products resulting in an ITT of more than three months".

The toxicological analyzes showed that Pierre Palmade had used cocaine.

The prosecutor adds that

"Investigations are also underway to confirm the presence of passengers in Pierre Palmade's vehicle who left the scene after the accident"

.

Closed hearing

When his hospitalization was lifted on February 15, the comedian was placed in police custody.

He admits having taken cocaine and synthetic drugs before the accident, which he claims not to remember.

Also placed in police custody, his two passengers, who had also consumed narcotics,

“confirm that they fled before the arrival of help”

, according to Jean-Michel Bourlès.

On February 17, these two thirty-somethings were placed under assisted witness status, while Pierre Palmade was indicted, the recidivism being retained because of a conviction for acquiring narcotics in 2019. He was placed by a judge of freedoms and detention under house arrest in a hospital addiction service, under electronic surveillance.

The Melun prosecutor's office, which had requested pre-trial detention, is appealing this decision.

It was then that the Paris Court of Appeal took over.

On Friday, February 24, a hearing is held behind closed doors before the investigating chamber.

Like the Melun public prosecutor's office, the public prosecutor's office requires the placement in pre-trial detention.

The investigating chamber finally puts its decision under advisement on Monday, February 27.

Absent from Friday's hearing, the principal concerned was transferred over the weekend to the Kremlin-Bicêtre hospital (Val-de-Marne), according to information confirmed by Le

Figaro

.

Several media mention a stroke, which refuses to confirm or deny Me Céline Lasek, the defendant's lawyer.

For the past week, the name of Pierre Palmade has also been cited in another case.

An investigation and then a judicial inquiry for "possession and dissemination of child pornography files, usual consultation of child pornography sites" were opened following a report to the police implicating Pierre Palmade.

Two arrests have already taken place.

One of the detainees was indicted and placed under judicial supervision this Saturday, while the second was released.
