The fox was recorded near Beit Shemesh playing with the small predator in Israel • When she finished, she buried him without eating him • Amir Laban, manager of the urban nature department at the Society for the Protection of Nature, who photographed the fox: "I'm glad I was in the right place and at the right time"

Usually, foxes spend the month of February when they are pregnant, and accordingly - their appetite increases.

In order for the pregnancy to be successful, they have to hunt a lot, sometimes even during the day, and it happened to be recorded yesterday (Saturday), when a fox was recorded near Beit Shemesh hunting Hadaf, the small carnivore in Israel.

• After his sight was restored: a deer that was hit by a car was released back into the wild

• The majority of the public decided: the large animals should be removed from the zoos

Amir Laban, manager of the urban nature department at the Society for the Protection of Nature, photographed the fox playing with the hawk, and eventually eating it.

"The female was observed in the area of Beit Jamal, and we saw it jumping on a small prey," he said.

"It was hard to see what it was, so I pulled out the camera and started taking pictures. We followed her for a few minutes. After going through the photos, I realized that it was a small wasp. At the end of the game, she buried her prey and continued on her way, without eating it. It's possible that the wasp had a strong smell In times of distress, the fox's appetite was disabled, perhaps burial and aging make it more edible. This is a special, rare and exciting observation. Glad I was in the right place at the right time."

The hawk, whose name is the bread of the words קאד ואפ (because of its pointed nose), is a tiny mammal that feeds with its sharp teeth on small insects, diarrhea and more.

This time, it was his luck and he encountered a predator much bigger than him.

Due to being a very small mammal, the metabolism in his body is very fast, and because this makes it difficult for him to balance his body temperature, he must consume a huge amount of food per day in relation to his size.

They spend most of their lives in underground burrows, and even when food is scarce, they remain at the lower level of the vegetation.

There are four species of sedges living in Israel: small sedge, white-toothed sedge, tiny sedge and Ramon sedge, which was first discovered in 1996 in the Ramon crater, and turned out to be an endemic species to Israel.

For the most part, the Hadaf live only one year, and even less, but they make up for it with a high reproduction rate - they reach sexual maturity at the age of 8 weeks, and they are able to produce a large number of offspring in their first and only year of life.

The Society for the Protection of Nature adds that the wasp is beneficial to humans in that it feeds on agricultural pests, and similarly to insect bats - they are very important in controlling populations of harmful insects in diverse agricultural systems, which include plantations and various crop fields, this is due to the fact that the wasp feeds on a large number of arthropods, and that one wasp Able to eat in a day an amount equal to his body weight.

Therefore, they are considered as biological exterminators in agricultural fields.
