The Minister of Diaspora claimed in an interview with 103FM that the demand to stop legislation as a condition for talks is "delusional" and that there is no precedent for this: "We will not do it with a gun to the head, we do not receive threats." Diaspora Minister and Minister for Social Equality Amichai Shikli of the Likud today (Sunday) addressed the protests against the legal reform promoted by the government, said that the legislation can be slowed down but not stopped and noted that he is "involved in attempts to create negotiations".

"I call on the other side to come and talk, but we won't do it with a gun to the head, we don't accept threats," he said in an interview on "Sheva Tshea" with Anat Davidov and Nissim Mashal on 103FM.

"I feel that they are trying to subdue us, it is an atmosphere of a season, there is an atmosphere of terror in some high-tech companies," Shikli attacked.

"Historically the left is anti-religious, anti-national and anti-democratic. The Zionist left brought amazing things here, but there is an erosion of those Zionist values."

Shikli went against the opposition's demand to stop the legislation as a condition for the start of negotiations, and claimed that there is no precedent for this.

"These are illusory demands. There is a period of time of at least three weeks until a second reading, there are also interim solutions beyond stopping legislation. It is possible to control the pace and slow it down," he said.

"There are patronages here that the devil didn't create."

The minister also attacked the head of the opposition Yair Lapid: "It seems that some people fell in love with the protest. Lapid seems completely drunk from the event, which helps him to cover up his disgraceful defeat after being prime minister for fifteen minutes."

Meanwhile, the disconnection between the parties continues, and a ministerial committee for legislative matters will meet today to approve the fortification law initiated by the leaders of the coalition factions.

This, in order to prevent the High Court or the Legal Adviser to the Government from declaring Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu impeached. On Wednesday, the proposal will be submitted for approval in a preliminary reading in the plenary. The coalition's proposal

states that the prime minister's impeachment from performing his duties will be solely based on a notification to the Knesset by the Prime Minister or by The government, which was accepted by a majority of 75% of its members - 90 members of the Knesset. This means that in the current government and Knesset it will be enough for the Likud to oppose the proposal and it will not be approved. The bill defines that the incapacity of a prime minister means only the physical or mental inability of the prime minister to fulfill the role and not another reason or factor.

"Illusory demands".

At the same time, the Constitution Committee chaired by MK Simcha Rothman of Religious Zionism will continue to hold discussions on two bills whose purpose is to almost completely reduce the possibility of the High Court of Justice to invalidate ordinary laws. This, through a superseding clause and placing requirements that the annulment of a law be done only by a full assembly of 15 of the 15 judges of the Supreme Court, unanimously, and only if "the law clearly contradicts a provision enshrined in the Basic Law". Committee chairman MK Rotman will inform the Knesset members that there may be votes this Wednesday on the two proposals for first reading, depending on the progress of the discussions.

One of the proposals was approved this week in a preliminary reading in the plenum, but according to Justice Minister Yariv Levin, the coalition is not expected to advance them for final approval in the plenum in the current session of the Knesset, which will end before Passover.

Levin said that the plan is to approve in three readings the change in the composition of the committee for the selection of judges and the cancellation of the High Court's judicial review of fundamental laws and only in the next session of the Knesset to continue promoting the other parts of the reform. The closest in light of the demand of the ultra-orthodox factions.

Meanwhile, the legislation continues.

The revolution planned by the government includes a series of significant changes in the legal system, such as a determination that only an expanded composition of the High Court can invalidate legislation passed by the Knesset. Another step of the revolution, designed to strengthen the government's hand vis-à-vis the court, is the establishment of a superseding clause that will nullify decisions of the High Court by a majority of only 61 members of the Knesset, as well as changing the composition of the committee for the selection of judges so that it is fully controlled by the coalition.

The reform also deals with weakening the power of the legal advisors to the government, so that their position will not bind the government, and with eliminating the reason for reasonableness, which, among other things, significantly limits the court's ability to intervene in the appointment of senior officials.
