After a preliminary vote on the law, a discussion will be held in the political-security cabinet • "Our answer to terrorism is to strike terror hard"

Against the backdrop of the terrorist attack in Hawara:

The Ministerial Committee on Legislative Matters today approved the death penalty law for "Otzma Yehudit" terrorists.

According to the law, the court will be able to impose the death penalty on those who have committed the crime of murder on nationalistic grounds against the citizens of Israel.

The committee decided that after a preliminary vote on the law, a discussion will be held in the political-security cabinet to discuss the text of the law.

"We will continue to act by all means, with security, operational activity and legislation, in order to deter the terrorists and maintain Israel's security," said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, "Our answer to terrorism is to hit terrorism hard and deepen our roots in our country."

The Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gabir said that "on this difficult day when two Israeli citizens were murdered in a Palestinian terrorist attack, there is nothing more symbolic than passing a death penalty law for terrorists. This is a moral, fair law that also exists in the world's largest democracy and certainly in a country where a wave of terrorism plagues the citizens of the country." .
