It is by reading the press that Carole Delga claims to have discovered it.
On January 12, the leader of the Renaissance presidential party, Stéphane Séjourné, posed in the columns of Le
Figaro
the first stones of the institutional building site to come.
The MEP notably mentions the redistricting of certain large regions, to allow more
"local democracy". "This is the latest fad of the government",
reacts the president of the Occitanie region and Regions of France, who does not hide her dissatisfaction.
Carole Delga affirms that no elected official was consulted prior to this announcement.
“All the regional presidents are ready to demonstrate the relevance of their demographic level,”
she says.
The territorial reform promulgated in 2015 under François Hollande, and establishing the new map with 13 regions instead of 22 in metropolitan France, was however far from being popular;
many had even considered it made
"on a corner of the table".
