Pensions rose more in 2022 than they have in years.

However, a statutory pension of 2000 euros per month is unattainable for many people.

According to a report, net pensions in Germany rose last year more than they had in years.

Since July, seniors have had an average of 63 euros more in their pockets per month, reports the

Bild

newspaper, citing initial data from the German pension insurance on the development of old-age benefits over the past year.

Accordingly, the average pension paid out increased from 1,089 to 1,152 euros.

Pensions in Germany: In 2022, average pensions will have increased

According to the information, men received an average of 1,276 euros per month and thus 68 euros more net.

Women received 1,060 euros, an increase of 59 euros.

The average net widow's pension rose from 512 to 540 euros, the widower's pension from 374 to 396 euros.

Accordingly, last year was the highest net plus for pensioners for many years.

In 2013, the average pension was still 855 euros.

Overall, this is good news for retirees.

However, in view of the increased prices for food and energy, seniors also need more money in order not to slip into poverty in old age.

For many people in Germany, the rude awakening follows in old age: the pension is much lower than the salary.

How many people receive a state pension of 2000 euros

If you want to receive more money than the average pension of 1,152 euros in retirement, you have to pay high contributions into the pension insurance over a very long period of time, i.e. earn very well.

That is why only a few people in Germany draw a monthly pension of 2,000 euros.

According to the online portal

focus.de,

out of millions of pensioners, in 2015 just 97,271 people received that much money from the statutory pension insurance.

How much you have to earn in order to draw a pension of 2,000 euros can be calculated using the earnings points: earnings points, also known as pension points, are automatically collected by employees during their working life by paying part of their gross salary into the pension fund.

How many pension points you then receive per year of work depends on two factors: your own income and the average salary, which is recalculated every year.

In 2022, the provisional average wage was 38,901 euros.

So whoever earned exactly that much in 2022 received exactly one pension point.

This is how you can estimate your future pension

How many pension points you have accumulated over the course of your working life determines how much pension you will receive later.

For example, if you have earned the respective average salary for 45 years, you have collected 45 pension points.

Then the future pension amount can be estimated with the following formula of the German pension insurance:

Pay points x current pension value x pension type factor x access factor = monthly pension amount

Anyone who receives the classic old-age pension and retires at the standard retirement age can ignore the last two factors in their calculations.

The pension value refers to the differences between East and West.

It is currently EUR 36.02 for the old federal states and EUR 35.52 for the new federal states.

According to the pension estimator, whoever has 45 earnings points comes to 1,598 euros.

2000 euros pension: you have to earn that much

Calculations show: In order to get a pension of 2,000 euros (before taxes!), you need about 60 earnings points.

But who can work for six decades?

This means that with 45 years of work, you have to earn about a third more than the average with your gross salary - every year.

According to

focus.de,

the average gross income must be at least 4,500 euros per month - and that for over 45 years.

This is not feasible for many people - which is why it is particularly important for them to make additional private provisions and not just rely on the statutory pension.
