What is still allowed to say nowadays and what not? After Florian Silbereisen recently rewrote a song on his own, Giovanni Zarrella also played it safe in his ZDF hit show.

What can and cannot be said these days?

After Florian Silbereisen recently rewrote a song on his own, Giovanni Zarrella also played it safe in his ZDF hit show.

Offenburg – Language has never been discussed as controversially as it is at this time.

A heated argument has broken out about gender or the use of supposedly discriminatory terms, which is now apparently also being fought out in German hits: Most recently, Florian Silbereisen (41) got into trouble because he used the controversial word “Indian” from “1000 and 1 night”.

Now Giovanni Zarrella (44) has also rewritten a real classic.

Schlager shows are becoming politically correct – Giovanni Zarrella is doing the same for Florian Silbereisen

The "Giovanni Zarrella Show" on Saturday evening (February 25) once again attracted an audience of millions (rating: around 4 million), but one scene should have caused a stir in view of the heated language debate: the 44-year-old German-Italian commemorated in his show Schlager god Udo Jürgens († 80) and sang a hit medley in his honor together with his companion Roland Kaiser (70) and pop star Namika (31).

Rarely has language been discussed as intensively as in our time.

However, viewers who are familiar with the lyrics should have noticed that Jürgens' well-known piece "Aber Bitte mit Sahne" was performed in a slightly different form: "

They blow and snort, almost nothing goes in anymore.

Only one Mohrenkopf at most, because there must be order," read the original text, but Giovanni Zarrella replaced the highly controversial word "Mohrenkopf", which was perceived as discriminatory, with the now more common synonym "Schokokuss" - a moment that harks back to the legal dispute between Florian Silbereisen and

" 1000 and 1 night” author Diether Dehm (72) remembers.

Controversial term "Mohrenkopf" - a heated debate:

Since 2012, for example, the Duden has listed the word "Mohrenkopf" with the indication that this term could be interpreted as discriminatory.

Synonyms such as foam or chocolate kiss are now more common.

The name itself comes from late 19th-century France, where the sweet delicacy was baptized tête de nègre.

The debate is perceived by many as problematic, above all because the outdated expression "Mohr" is a foreign attribution, the use of which, however, is primarily discussed by white people - and thus by those not affected.

Others see the discussion as part of the cancel culture that is rampant.

Successful Udo Jürgens tribute – pop star children John and Jenny celebrate with Giovanni Zarrella

However, the text change did not detract from the mood in the "Giovanni Zarrella Show": John (59) and Jenny (56) Jürgens, the children of the hit-maker who died in 2014, were allowed to attend their father's tribute and were visibly touched.

"Of course it's a pleasure to be here and to honor our father, to see Giovanni and to experience all these artists," said the 56-year-old, moved.

The two enthusiastically sang along to the hit medley.

But Saturday evening also delivered moments that were less well received by the viewers: "Bergdoktor" star Mark Keller (57) messed up his "Giovanni Zarrella Show" appearance and was torn up on the net for it.
