The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, expressed Syria's appreciation for Egypt's great role in facing the catastrophic consequences of the earthquake, stressing that the assistance it provided reflects the solidarity of the two brotherly peoples, the Syrian and Egyptian.
Al-Miqdad said in a press statement after his meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, in the ministry building today: We welcome the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry. In addition to the historical relations between the two brotherly countries.
Al-Miqdad pointed to the great role of Egypt's leadership and people in confronting the catastrophic consequences of the earthquake, as the assistance it provided expresses the solidarity of the Egyptian people with their Syrian brother, explaining at the same time that the reception of the Egyptian people and the Egyptian leadership cannot be ignored for the Syrian citizens who were forced to leave their country because of the terrorist war.
For his part, the Egyptian Foreign Minister said: I am happy to visit Syria and had the honor to meet President Bashar al-Assad, and I conveyed to him a message from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to affirm solidarity with Syria and readiness to continue providing whatever support we can.
To be able to overcome the consequences of the earthquake, expressing the condolences of the Egyptian leadership, government and people for the victims and their wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.
Shoukry stressed that the Syrian people enjoy a great status among the Egyptian people, who felt the pain and grief of what befell Syria as a result of the earthquake. Humanitarian support, pointing out that his country has been coordinating with the Syrian government in this field since the first days of the earthquake.
Shoukry stressed that the relations between the Egyptian and Syrian peoples are fraternal, strong and solid, and that Egypt is in solidarity with Syria and supports it in facing the challenges facing its people, expressing his country's hope that Syria will overcome the effects of the earthquake as soon as possible.
Shoukry arrived in Damascus this morning on a visit to confirm Egypt's solidarity with Syria in facing the repercussions of the earthquake, where the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, received him at Damascus International Airport.
