At the beginning of the school year -which started this Monday in the City of Buenos Aires and five provinces-, President
Alberto Fernández
said that currently "the concern" of teachers is
"not paying Profits"
.
He also stated that during the government of Mauricio Macri, teachers' salaries had "fallen to the bottom of the well."
The President spoke this afternoon at the inauguration of the Secondary Education School No. 82 Doctor René Favaloro, in the province of Chaco, where he was accompanied by Governor Jorge Capitanich.
"When we arrived at the Government, the concern was to see how they improved a salary that had fallen to the bottom of the well and today the concern is that they do not have to pay Profits because their salaries have grown in such a way that they are beginning to be affected," said the leader.
In this context, the President stressed that the Government closed the national parity before the start of classes.
The agreement was 33.5% until July, which raised the minimum wage to 130,000 pesos as of March.
In any case, several provinces could not start the school year because they have not yet reached an agreement with the local unions, since the national guideline only establishes a reference floor.
Fernández also argued that Argentina "had done a lot over the years to make education accessible to all," for which he called for "taking a dimension of how important education is."
When speaking to the students present, in the Chaco town of Basail, he told them that the school "is not a place where they spend six hours a day, but where they are building their future."
