The Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection announced the arrival of the first batch of imported onions to the port of Tartous today.
The ministry said in a statement, a copy of which SANA received, that this batch includes 700 tons of onions, and it will be distributed to the Syrian trade halls in the Syrian governorates to be sold to citizens, noting that the second batch will arrive tomorrow.
The ministry had allowed the Syrian Trade Corporation to import 2,000 tons of onions to cover the needs of the local market.
