(CNN) --

The Storm Prediction Center reported more than 100 storm reports for parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas early Monday morning.

There are now 87 high wind reports, 13 hail reports, and two tornado reports.

Confirmations of tornadoes in Oklahoma will likely increase the number of tornado reports.

Although the severe storms have moved in, strong winds continue over the area.

More than 65 million people remain under high wind watches in the southern Plains and the Mississippi and Ohio river valleys.

Widespread gusts could be between 65 and 90 km/h.

An earlier warning from the Storm Prediction Center reported a powerful round of storms bringing tornadoes, damaging wind gusts and hail to parts of Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas.

As of this Sunday at midnight, 78 reports of strong winds had been reported in Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma.

The strongest wind report came from Memphis, Texas, where a 183 km/h wind gust was reported.

Tornadoes reported in Norman, Oklahoma

A confirmed tornado and widespread damage reports are coming in from Norman, Oklahoma as powerful storms continue to impact the Southern Plains.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Norman has reported that they are safe.

Meanwhile, there is another confirmed tornado near Johnson, east of Oklahoma City, moving northeast at 60 mph.

This tornado will impact Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Meanwhile, around 9:12 pm local Oklahoma time, a tornado-producing storm was located over southwest of Oklahoma City near Mustang moving northeast at 40 mph.

As a result, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a tornado warning that includes downtown Oklahoma City until 10 p.m. local time.

The National Weather Service warned Oklahomans to seek shelter: "Tornadoes are extremely difficult to see and confirm at night. Do not wait to see or hear a tornado."

Students on the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman were asked to seek shelter due to the threat of a possible tornado in the area.

"Seek shelter now inside the building you are in," the University said in a tweet Sunday night.

Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt tweeted that "there are reports of a possible tornado on the ground in western Oklahoma. Find a safe place in your home."

Tornadoes cause power outages in Oklahoma

The storms brought down several power lines outside of Oklahoma City and more than 75,000 customers statewide are without power.

In Shawnee, Oklahoma, just outside of Oklahoma City, a three-mile section has been observed with reported damage following severe weather in the area, including multiple power outages and downed power lines, according to Chad Larman, director of the Pottawatomie County Department of Emergency Management.

No injuries have been reported thus far, Larman said.

Statewide, Poweroutage.us currently reports 76,879 customers without power.

Power provider OG&E says severe weather with damaging winds passed through its service area Sunday night and the company is assessing the damage.

“Power will be restored overnight when it is safe for crews to work until all customers have service restored,” OG&E added.

Meanwhile, the Norman Police Department reported multiple road closures due to downed power lines and debris in the south/eastern parts of Norman, Oklahoma, following severe weather that swept through the area Sunday night.

The Department is expected to release an extensive list of impacts, but asks residents to avoid the area if possible.

Winter weather hits the Great Lakes

Elsewhere, another round of heavy mixed rainfall is expected for the Great Lakes area on Monday.

This precipitation is in the far north of the storm that brought nearly 100 storm reports to the Central Plains on Sunday.

Winter weather alerts extend from the Great Lakes to just outside of New York City and Philadelphia.

Heavy mixed precipitation is expected to move across the Great Lakes throughout Monday, with those under warnings expected to see 2 to 8 inches of snow and ice up to 8 inches.

This area is still dealing with power outages from an ice storm that hit the area last week.

In fact, Michigan still has more than 150,000 customers without power.

Although New York City and Philadelphia only have chances of snowfall, Boston is under a winter weather advisory through Tuesday night.

They are expected to receive 2 to 5 inches of snow.

Winter storm warnings will be in effect for parts of inland New York and New England through Wednesday afternoon.

In total, these isolated areas can see up to 25 centimeters of snow.
