The Ziegler villa on Ludwig-Dill-Strasse has been empty for two years.
There is no prospect of use.
The Dachau tour guide Nina Schiffner meticulously researched the history of this important house and its residents.
She took interested citizens on a tour of the villa, from the basement to the attic.
Nina Schiffner is so committed because she fears that the house will be quietly left to decay or could be sold to an investor.
At the end of the tour, the participants agreed that “it absolutely had to be used for cultural purposes”.
The villa with the striking, towering gable facade was built in 1898 on Holzgartenstrasse, which was later renamed Ludwig-Dill-Strasse.

Nina Schiffner describes him as the "fifth brickmaker" of the brewery dynasty.
For a better overview of the male firstborns, most of whom were baptized with the same first name, she numbered them.
Eduard Ziegler, the fifth, was married to a wealthy Nuremberg patrician's daughter, but had considerable wealth at his disposal.
He inherited from his father Eduard Ziegler senior.
(1840-1901) the brewery in the old market, plus real estate and land in Dachau.

loved art and wanted to promote it as a patron - his uncle was the landscape and animal painter Max Josef Pitzner, his cousin the Matisse student Maria Langer-Schöller - he admitted Adolf Hölzel (1853-1934), who was already working as a painter at the time Build a house on Holzgartenstrasse.

Ziegler had the right feeling, because Hölzel became the founder of the "Dachau School", which was to influence generations of artists and, in retrospect, distinguished him as an avant-gardist of European standing.
