Shenzhen-Hong Kong "Development Strategies for Connecting Northern Metropolitan Areas" held its first meeting to exchange views on areas of connection

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government delegation led by the Deputy Financial Secretary, Huang Weilun, and the Shenzhen Municipal Government delegation led by the Executive Vice Mayor of Shenzhen City, Huang Min, held the first "Docking the Northern Metropolitan Area Development Strategy" in Shenzhen today (27th).


The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government delegation led by the Deputy Financial Secretary, Huang Weilun, and the Shenzhen Municipal Government delegation led by the Executive Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen City, Huang Min, held the first "Development Strategies for the Northern Metropolitan Region" meeting in Shenzhen. The two sides exchanged views on the scope of cooperation with the northern metropolitan area, including cross-border transportation, port planning, Qianhai development, and the construction of the Lok Ma Chau Loop.


Under the Guangdong-Hong Kong, Hong Kong-Shenzhen cooperation mechanism, the Special Administrative Region Government has set up the "Development Strategies for Connecting the Northern Metropolitan Region" to strengthen communication and collaboration between Hong Kong and the Mainland on matters related to the northern metropolitan region. The special group held its first meeting in Shenzhen today.

Representatives of the Special Administrative Region Government introduced the planning and promotion of the northern metropolitan area at the meeting. The Shenzhen Municipal Government also introduced the relevant development plans for Shenzhen to connect with the northern metropolitan area.

Both Hong Kong and Shenzhen exchanged views on areas of cooperation with the northern metropolitan area, including cross-border transportation, port planning, Qianhai development, and the construction of the Lok Ma Chau Loop.

The two parties agreed to continue to strengthen cooperation and make good use of the synergies and opportunities generated by the northern metropolitan area and the cities of the Greater Bay Area, especially Shenzhen in the fields of industrial planning, land use, and ecological conservation.

After the meeting, the SAR government delegation visited the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone and listened to the introduction of the Shenzhen Qianhai Administration Bureau on the latest developments in Qianhai.

SAR government officials attending today's meeting also included Secretary for Development Ning Hon-ho, Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Tsang Kwok-wai, Secretary for Environment and Ecology Tse Chin-wan, Secretary for Transport and Logistics Lam Sai-hung, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Xu Zhengyu, Acting Secretary for Security Zhuo Xiaoye, Liu Zhen, deputy director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, and Zhang Manli, deputy director of the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau, and heads of other relevant departments.

Hong Kong-Shenzhen "Development Strategies for Connecting Northern Metropolitan Areas" will hold a meeting for the first time in the Ming Dynasty. Huang Weilun leads a delegation to attend the meeting. Close Cooperation Development Bureau Lin Zhiwen: The development of the northern metropolitan area is expected to take 20 years. A dedicated department will be set up next year. The Northern Metropolitan Area Steering Committee will meet for the first time and propose an early formulation of a land disposal plan in the northern metropolitan area. The first batch of multi-storey modern industrial buildings will be built on 69 hectares or as early as 2027. Completion Proposal Industry Council calls for the northern metropolitan area to reserve a "transit area" for placing and assembling synthetic building structures
