On video: Galant in Hawara: "Difficult days are expected" (Ariel Harmoni Ministry of Defense)
Defense Minister Yoav Galant arrived today (Monday) at the scene of the attack in Hawara, and received an intelligence and operational review of what took place in the last day in the area.
The update dealt with the effort to capture the terrorist and disturbances committed by settlers after the attack, during which dozens of buildings were damaged and hundreds of vehicles were set on fire.
In addition, the rioters damaged a school, stole sheep and sabotaged a water reservoir.
At the same time, officials in the security system criticized the conduct of the forces in the field.
According to them, they should have anticipated the disturbances that occur almost regularly in the area after deadly attacks.
They believe that the forces were not organized accordingly and in a way that could have prevented the disturbances, which are covered by the foreign media as a loss of control of the security system and causing serious damage to Israel in the world.

Army officials said that information was transmitted in real time to the police about the arrival of dozens of settlers to the Hvara axis and violent disturbances in the area.
According to one of the sources, "They said they were sending forces but were in no hurry to reach the area."

Another military source said that "within a short period of time, the number of settlers who were in the area, throwing stones and setting fire to Palestinian buildings quickly increased to hundreds."
He added that despite the violence and the extent of the mess, the IDF fighters were able to detain for questioning settlers who were handed over to the Israel Police. However, as far as we understand, only one of them was arrested. A different atmosphere was created in the area. It is not clear to us until now why the Israel Police did not hurry to respond to the incidents and strengthen the area."
On the other hand, police officials claimed that as soon as they received the information, the forces rushed to the area to isolate the area, arrest suspects and keep the rioters away.
The sources also said that "the investigation has just begun, several suspects have been arrested and there is material to arrest more suspects."
