Today, the National Network Services Authority launched two new digital certification systems for the government and private sectors.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Eng. Muntajab Saleh, Head of the Electronic Certification Center in the Authority, explained that the new government system for digital certification uses the RSA algorithm to work alongside the previous system operating with the ECDSA algorithm, in order to support compatibility with the various existing systems.

Saleh pointed out that some information systems that use digital signatures and many electronic carriers and smart cards only deal with a specific type of algorithm, but with the existence of the new government system, the most popular algorithms have become supported and available, explaining that the new system, like the old system, is dedicated to issuing digital certificates for workers in the public sector. with their job descriptions and for government agencies with their legal statuses.

Regarding the digital certification system intended for the private sector, Saleh indicated that it uses the RSA algorithm, which is the most common and compatible with commercially available systems and equipment. It is intended for issuing digital certificates for private sector workers and private entities with their legal characteristics.

Saleh pointed out that the two systems provide a timestamp service that can be used by any application that uses a digital signature and does not currently require any data for authentication and is available to the public.

According to Saleh, the launch of this service is not one of the direct tasks of the authority, but because there is no authentication service provider duly licensed by the authority to provide this service to the private sector so far, and due to the need of some private entities for this type of services, the authority launched this system until there are licensed entities to provide it.

Saleh pointed out that the launch of these two systems aims to support the digital transformation process for all sectors and raise the level of performance and safety of the services provided.
