The contrast is striking.
As relations between China and the United States deteriorate day by day against a backdrop of geopolitical and technological rivalry, their trade exchanges are reaching new heights.
The interdependence between the world's two largest economies seems to have never been stronger.
Their trade in 2022 even broke a new record at more than 690 billion dollars.
Last year was however marked by a containment policy in China which curbed trade.
Still, US imports of Chinese goods soared 6.3% to $537 billion.
They have thus almost regained their record level of 2018, of 539 billion dollars.
For their part, American exports to China, despite the suspension of deliveries of Boeing 737 Max, still increased by 1.6%, to 153 billion.
