The Gelting folklore group is back: After a compulsory Corona break, the amateur actors' ensemble is celebrating a successful comeback.

Around 150 visitors came to the theater hall.

Gelting – Some of the approximately 150 visitors in the almost sold-out theater laughed at the enjoyable three-act play three years ago in the same place.

On Saturday evening, they were happy to come to the resumption of the performances that had been canceled in March 2020 due to the corona pandemic.

"Hercules the model bull" based on a template by Marianne Santl remains a crowd puller - even if the star of the evening could only be seen in photos.

Gelting: Traditional group celebrates a comeback - with the play "Hercules the model bull"

"We put a lot of time and heart and soul into this piece," explained Franz Wirtensohn junior in the prologue.

The ensemble of amateur actors was all the sadder that after four successful theater evenings on March 13, 2020, the corona pandemic slowed them down.

The joy of playing did not detract from the long forced break.

At first, the loose mouth of court maid Zenzi, played by Sabine Wirtensohn, strained the laughing muscles of the audience.

The farmers Sixtus (Konrad Mayr) and Alois (Franz Wirtensohn junior) don't mind that she doesn't want to wash the most sensitive part of the genital area of the magnificent bull Hercules.

The two are sure that the breeding bull will be awarded at a show in Munich - and they are right.

Gelting folklore group plays theater again: three-hour performance in the theater hall

They celebrate the victory extensively at the Oktoberfest and in a nightclub.

This inevitably leads to a "Boarian hangover" with head injuries and a broken arm.

The badly injured day trippers want to keep the true background of the dilemma a secret from their wives Emma (Regina Mayr) and Rosa (Marlies Kiesel).

They depend on the secrecy of the young lovers Susi (Katharina Wenus) and Max Hackl (Sebastian Schrills).

The overzealous policeman Schleich (Günter Schrills) and hobby photographer Cornelius (Kurt Becker) complete the chaos.

At the end of the three-hour performance, the protagonists toasted the temporarily lost bull with schnapps.

After a hilarious slide show, which featured a photo shoot with a stud bull and nocturnal excesses by the cast, accompanied by the AC/DC hard rock classic "Highway to Hell," the curtain went down.

In addition to a red carpet in front of the entrance door, the musicians playing during the two breaks and the hospitality also contributed to the feel-good atmosphere.

A night at the theater in Gelting without a social get-together in the “Grube” – as the comfortably furnished parlor in the basement under the stage is called – would undoubtedly only be half the fun.

Visitors should plan a little more time for the coming evenings (see box for dates).
