Major General Yehuda Fox responded this evening (Tuesday) to the riots that occurred in the Palestinian village of Hawara two days ago, a few hours after the two young men Hillel Weigal Yaniv were shot dead in an attack in the area.
"A pogrom committed by lawbreakers," Fox claimed in an interview with News 12. "It's a bad event that shouldn't have happened, and I should have prevented it," he added.
He also claimed that the IDF was not prepared for the amount of rioters who raided the town. "We were preparing for another event and this event surprised us with its intensity and scope.
This is a shameful incident of lawbreakers who acted not according to the values I grew up with, not according to the values of the State of Israel, nor according to the values of Judaism."
