The young man was taken to the Hadassah Mount Scopus hospital in Jerusalem yesterday, after terrorists opened fire on his vehicle, where he was pronounced dead • Alan volunteered to serve as an IDF soldier and held Israeli citizenship

The person who was murdered in the shooting attack that took place last night (Monday) at Almog Junction, is Alan Ganels, 27 years old, originally from Connecticut.

Alan volunteered, among other things, to serve as an IDF soldier and held Israeli citizenship.

Alan grew up in the Young Israel community in West Herdford, Connecticut, and is survived by his parents and two brothers.

There was only one message on his Twitter account, a quote from someone who said that "I think there will always be tension in the Middle East when there are people who want to kill the Jews and Jews who don't want to be killed, and neither side is willing to compromise."

The Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford stated that "Our community is shocked and outraged by the brutal murder of 27-year-old West Hartford, Connecticut resident Alan Ganels. Alan was shot Monday evening in an attack in Israel. Ganels, who grew up in West Hartford and was in Israel to attend a wedding, was driving when Monday Palestinian terrorists drove to his car and opened fire. He was rushed to Hadassah Hospital in critical condition as paramedics tried to resuscitate him. He was sadly pronounced dead at the hospital.

"Once again, a civilian has been targeted by those who see violence against the innocent as a solution," said David Warren, president of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford.

"We send our deepest condolences to the Ganels family and confirm our identification with the people of Israel in this period of escalating violence. May Alan's memory be blessed to his family and our entire community."

The Jewish Federations of North America said: "The Jewish Federations are saddened by the news of the horrific terrorist attack that claimed the life of Alan Gunles, a native of West Hartford, CT. Alan's love for the Jewish people and Israel led him to volunteer in his local community and serve in the IDF.

Allen, who had recently graduated from college, had a bright future ahead of him.

Our hearts go out to his family and the West Hartford community and we mourn with them.

May the memory of Alan be blessed."

As I recall, Alan was taken to the Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in Jerusalem yesterday, where he was pronounced dead.

IDF forces began a pursuit of the terrorists, who set fire to their vehicle and escaped in another vehicle. The hunt for the terrorists continues.
