Hours after the extraordinary ones expire and Alberto Fernández opens a new legislative period, the Frente de Todos
twisted the blockade of Together
for Change and, with the
right quorum,
managed to open the session and
sanction the new pension moratorium.
It was
approved by 134 votes in favor and 107 against
.
The initiative promoted by senators from
La Cámpora
, together with the head of ANSES,
Fernanda Raverta
, proposes a payment system so that people who are old enough but do not meet the necessary years of contributions can access retirement.
It is estimated that it will benefit 800 thousand people.
The session began after 11, with 129 legislators present.
For that, the 118 of the Frente de Todos had perfect attendance.
They were joined by legislators from the
Left Front, the United Provinces bloc
- missionaries and Rio Negros - and
the Federal Interbloc
: the two socialists from Santa Fe, Alejandro "Topo" Rodríguez and Graciela Camaño.
They had already advanced that if the agenda was of consensus, they were willing to accompany.
Faithful to their strategy, of not giving a quorum or supporting any initiative in rejection of the Impeachment Trial against the Supreme Court,
the deputies of Together for Change did not go down to the premises until the ruling party achieved the necessary number
to start the debate.
But at the same time
they flatly rejected the project
, which they considered a "patch" to the "detriment of all retirees."
"It must be said with all the letters:
Kirchnerism distributes resources that do not exist.
Instead of generating more rights with sustainable economic growth, with more investment and more registered quality employment, on the contrary, it generates more fiscal deficit and then, to reduce it, it cuts pension spending with the application of retirement mobility that is always lower than the very high inflation we have in Argentina today," they said in a statement.
Pro-government deputy Carlos Heller observed that of the total number of retirees in Argentina, 65% have to do with moratoriums.
"Thanks to these moratoriums, 95% of people who are able to retire can do so," he added, attributing the situation to a "very serious problem" that our country has in terms of labor informality, which causes "many people reach retirement age without sufficient contributions.
The treatment of this initiative had failed on December 21 last, when Together for Change (JxC) and other opposition blocs refused to give a quorum to debate it.
This session, which took place after two failures by the ruling party at the end of last year, is held one day before the Legislative Assembly, which - headed by President Alberto Fernández - will open the 141st period of ordinary sessions.

However, the ruling party obtained a quorum with the support of minority and intermediate blocks, to discuss the projects.
Crosses for the impeachment of the Supreme Court
At the beginning of the session, the request for impeachment of the judges of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation slipped into the debate through the presentation of the deputy Juan Manuel López.
The legislator from the ARI Civic Coalition
accused the members of said commission of
publicly "squeezing" the witnesses as if they were "Police corporals" and also pointed them out for having an agreement with Judge Ricardo Lorenzetti, whom from the party of Elisa Carrió have denounced.
"They have to recognize the limit that they have crossed, I don't know where they are going, where they are taking us and I think you don't know either," López concluded.
Silvia
Lospennato also joined the claim
and accused Kirchnerism of turning the Impeachment Committee into an "illegal intelligence organization" and ratified that JxC will not be part of the "arbitrary" process against the judges of the Highest Court.
"It is a political circus because the ruling party knows that it does not have enough votes to achieve the accusation in this Chamber of Deputies, they are very far from having the two votes of the thirds they need," he said.
The response from the ruling party came from the president of the Impeachment Committee, Carolina Gaillard, who defended the process that is being carried out.
"We want to clarify the truth, we don't want to cover up for anyone," were the last words of legislator Gaillard when they cut off her microphone because she exceeded time and continued to shout in the hall.
The president of the Lower House asked her to end because the intention of the session was to vote on the payment plan for retirees, although in the face of cries from the opposition bench, she defended her by saying that "ten issues of privilege were benched with great nobility without looking the other way, it's not for them to be horrified because a minute passed."
