LIVE: without the support of Together for Change, the Government achieved a quorum to advance the pension moratorium

2023-02-28T14:29:08.591Z

It is given one day before the opening of sessions that will be led by Alberto Fernández in Congress. Together for Change accuses Kirchnerism of "distributing resources that do not exist."

The ruling party of the Chamber of Deputies will seek to convert the pension moratorium project and the digitalization of medical records into law

this Tuesday

, on what will be the last day of the extraordinary session of the National Congress.

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Cecilia Moreau, heads the Parliamentary Work meeting in the Delia Parodi room, in which the heads of all the blocks that make up the chamber participate.

The session,

scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

, is held one day before the Legislative Assembly, headed by President Alberto Fernández, will inaugurate the 141st regular session.

The moratorium project establishes a pension debt payment plan that would allow some 800,000 people who do not have sufficient contributions to access retirement.

The treatment of this initiative had failed on December 21 last, when Together for Change (JxC) and other opposition blocs refused to give a quorum to debate it.

The opposition of Together for Change has already warned that it will not give a quorum to meet and rejected "the decision to continue patching up the pension system to the detriment of all retirees."

"It must be said with all the letters: Kirchnerism distributes resources that do not exist. Instead of generating more rights with sustainable economic growth, with more investment and more registered quality employment, on the contrary, it generates more fiscal deficit and then, to reduce it, it cuts pension spending with the application of retirement mobility that is always lower than the very high inflation we have in Argentina today," they said in a statement.

In addition, they stressed the need to address a "comprehensive reform" of the pension system, which is "authentically inclusive and sustainable so that all the elderly can receive benefits without the need for exceptions or patches."

However, the ruling party obtained a quorum with the support of minority and intermediate blocks, to discuss the projects.

Parliamentary sources announced that the main opposition bench would only enter the venue once the FdT and its circumstantial allies obtain the 129 presences that allow the start of the session.

To reach that number, the pro-government bench

trusts in the support of the four deputies of the Left,

the four of the United Provinces interblock (referenced in the provincial governments of Misiones and Río Negro) and with at least four of the eight members of the interblock Federal.

From this last space, the Identity from Buenos Aires -Graciela Camaño and Alejandro "Topo" Rodríguez-, and the two socialists from Santa Fe, Mónica Fein and Enrique Estévez, would collaborate with the development of the session.

The position that the remaining Buenos Aires native, Florencio Randazzo, will adopt is still unknown, while the three representatives of Córdoba Federal agreed a month ago to carry out the same JxC strategy: not to endorse the debate on other issues while the impeachment trial is taking place. the members of the Court.

However, the three deputies representing the provincial government would give their endorsement to the initiative once the session is enabled.

They would act in accordance with what the senator of her space, Alejandra Vigo, did when the issue achieved the approval of the Upper House.

With the review of these numbers, those who intend to meet today would reach 130, although with the presence of Rolando Figueroa (MPN) from Neuquén, Claudio Vidal from Santa Cruz (own block) and Randazzo the number could reach 133.
