The first major reform of the second five-year term - pensions - has not yet been voted on and the macronists are already wondering about the post-Macron period.
If the question is legitimate, it is because we know in advance that the head of state will not be able to stand again.
At the start of 2023, three names appear as potential candidates: Édouard Philippe, who says he is preparing;
Gérald Darmanin, who shows that he is getting ready;
and Bruno Le Maire, who fails to hide that he is preparing.
Former number one and current numbers two and three in the government, they each have not only the desire, but also the ability.
None, however, is a natural candidate or, even less, a designated dolphin.
Several reasons for this.

The first is due to Emmanuel Macron himself.
Considering his succession now would be tantamount to closing in advance a mandate that is really only beginning.
Above all, it is to bet that Macron will not recognize himself in any suitor.
