The former director of the married securities company killed Qin Jiayi, the mistress of Amoy Garden, at her residence 12 years ago, transported the body in a nylon bag and discarded the body.

The former director was eventually arrested and charged with murder, but the mistress' body was never found.

The ex-director was interrogated twice, first he denied the murder, and in the retrial he admitted the murder by mistake. He was convicted of murder. He later appealed and was allowed to have a retrial. He had a ferocious face and said he wanted to "kill" his wife. The defendant claimed that he wanted to make Qin stop his voice but killed Qin by mistake.

A jury yesterday unanimously found him not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter.

The judge sentenced the defendant to nine and a half years in prison in the High Court today (28th).

The defense pointed out that according to the current sentence, the defendant who has been remanded for 9 years should be released immediately, and hopes that the judge will issue an order to release him immediately.

The defendant has been remanded for 9 years and expects to be released immediately

The defense pleaded yesterday, pointing out that the defendant had served many years in prison, during which he was under great pressure, and the case had destroyed his family and career.

The defense also pointed out that considering that the defendant has been remanded in custody for 9 years, it is hoped that the judge will impose a sentence of immediate release.

The prosecution revealed that the defendant married in 2003, had two sons, and divorced his wife in 2016.

First interrogation refused to admit murder

The accused was first tried in 2015 when he pleaded not guilty to killing and was found guilty of murder.

He later appealed and won the case. The case was retried in 2017. The defendant was renamed manslaughter, but he was still convicted of murder after the second trial and was also sentenced to life imprisonment. The appeal court ruled for the second time in 2021. He appealed straight.

Before his death, Qin worked as a publicist in a nightclub

The case was tried for the third time this year. The prosecution alleges that Qin met the married defendant when he was working as a nightclub publicist in Hong Kong.

However, the defendant's wife discovered in 2011 that the defendant had an extramarital affair, and their relationship changed.

The defendant asked someone to empty the unit and wash the car afterwards

After Qin entered the building where he lived on October 5 of the same year, he disappeared. His brother reported the case several months later.

The police investigation found that the defendant entered the building on the evening of the 6th of the same month.

Went out at one point afterwards, bought vacuum bags etc, then turned back.

The defendant returned to the unit the next day, pushed a nylon bag on a trolley when he left, and then drove to Tseung Kwan O to dispose of the body.

In addition, the defendant also instructed the decoration workers to empty the unit afterwards, found someone to wash the car, and sent messages to her friends on Qin's mobile phone, pretending that Qin would stay in the mainland.

Defendant proposes to break up with Qin with hideous face

In his defense, the defendant claimed that he loved Qin deeply at the time, but the relationship between the two was eventually discovered by the defendant's wife.

Since then, both his wife and Chin have suffered from depression. The latter committed suicide by jumping off a building at one point, and his drinking problem worsened.

Finally, at the request of his wife, he planned to terminate the relationship with Qin on the day of the incident, but Qin heard this with a grim look behind him and threatened to ruin the defendant's reputation, saying that he would "kill your wife" and harass his son.

The defendant said that he couldn't think for a while, and just wanted to shut Qin up, so he pressed her mouth and nose hard, without intending to kill her.
