A murder mystery that remained unsolved for 12 years comes to a conclusion with a sweet potato - this was announced tonight (Tuesday) on ABC News.
DNA matching the suspect was found on the sweet potato, which was probably used as a makeshift silencer.
On February 27, 2011, 31-year-old Todd Lampley was found shot to death in his home in Hyannis, Massachusetts.
Only after a dozen years was a murder suspect arrested - Davorus Hampton, 40 years old, who denied what was attributed to him in court.
At the scene of the murder, hours after the crime, the police forces found three backpacks - and a sweet potato with a hole in it.

According to prosecutors in court, DNA was found on the sweet potato that matched Hampton, who apparently took inspiration from the TV series "Undercover" and used the vegetable as a gun silencer.
Also found at the scene was a cell phone registered to the name of Marlo Stanfield, a character from the hit HBO series.
The prosecutor in the case, Jessica Alumba, said in court that there was additional evidence linking Hampton to the murder, but declined to comment when asked why it took 12 years to arrest him.
The suspect had a GPS monitor on him that linked him to another crime scene that occurred during the murder.
The gun believed to have been used in the killing was recovered from a nearby lake, prosecutors said.
