If the new inheritance tax comes with significantly lower tax allowances, this could lead to serious distortions in the regional economy.

Erding's district master craftsman Rudolf Waxenberger is concerned.

Erding - "If the federal government intends to thin out crafts and medium-sized businesses in Upper Bavaria, then this may be one of the tried and tested means," explains the contractor in an interview with our newspaper.

You have to resist that.

But where does this concern come from?

In the future, the basis for the inheritance tax reform should be the market value of a property, "which ultimately means that the heirs in the metropolitan areas and especially in the Munich area have to pay significantly more tax here, but in structurally weaker areas, even less the same amount of real estate,” says Waxenberger.

Berlin categorically rejects an increase in tax allowances and/or a regionalised inheritance tax.

Waxenberger points out that in Upper Bavaria in particular "many business handovers with considerable real estate values will take place in the next few years, which hardly any successor wants to 'sell', but which are necessary in order to be able to continue and maintain the business".

It is already "hard enough" to find a successor.

"The unfair additional financial burden will not make the succession more attractive."

Waxenberger, who is also a CSU candidate for the state elections in October, could not help but get the impression "that private and commercial assets in Bavaria should be distributed in Germany and thus probably throughout the world".

He does not want to rule out that the tough stance of the traffic light is related to the state government's announcement that it will take legal action against the state financial equalization system.
