Today, a training course on the psychosocial support guide for children was launched, in cooperation between the Syrian Commission for Family and Population Affairs and UNICEF, at the Shahba Hotel, Aleppo, and it will last for five days.
Member of the Board of Directors of the Syrian Commission for Family and Population Affairs, Judge Nazira Daoud, confirmed in a statement to SANA reporter that, based on the Commission’s mission to maintain the stability and cohesion of the Syrian family and in response to the conditions that befell the province as a result of the earthquake, the Commission prepared a unified standard guide for training cadres for psychological and social support to obtain an effective and organized response. effective and achieves the best results.
The Director of Family Issues at the Authority, Rana Khalfawi, stated that this guide is for psychosocial support for age groups, to be a unified guide for all agencies working in this field, and it was applied in the field, pointing out that today three workshops will be held in parallel to train about 100 of the cadres who have been nominated. Trainer Kinda Barakat indicated that the first axis will deal with the concept of mental health and linking it with psychological first aid, the principles of psychological and social support, and the pyramid of psychological interventions.
The trainer, Muhammad Al-Shawi, stated that the course will address the most important topics in the guide, such as breathing and relaxation techniques, dealing with fear and anxiety, and how to apply it in shelters and people affected by the earthquake.
The trainer, Rasha Mounir, confirmed that providing this service now helps people integrate and return to their normal lives, and contributes to reducing the groups that are exposed to mental illness or psychological trauma, and it is a way to alleviate this suffering.
