"Today at noon, the date and time of expiry set by the expression of interest for the presentation of project financing proposals for the design, construction and management of the waste-to-energy plant envisaged in the Rome Capital Waste Plan, the Capitoline administration received a proposal from of the temporary grouping of companies led by Acea Ambiente".
This is what the Campidoglio announces.
Within the week, at the end of the administrative verification of the documentation presented, the Commission for the technical and economic evaluation of the project will be set up, which will include authoritative experts.
The work of the Commission will last 60 days at the end of which an opinion will be expressed which will be the basis for the calling of the tender for the construction and assignment of the waste-to-energy plant.
The publication of the call for tenders is expected by August 1, the construction sites to open by July 2024 and the plant to start up by the summer of 2026.
"It is another important stage for the construction of a decisive plant for closing the waste cycle and the definitive solution to a problem that has been dragging on for too many years".
Thus the mayor of
Rome Roberto Gualtieri comments on the closure of the expression of interest for the waste-to-energy plant in Rome
, to which Acea replied with its proposal.
"We are satisfied - he adds - because we are proceeding expeditiously according to the roadmap that we have set ourselves. Together with the other recycling plants and the plan for the reduction of waste and the increase in separate collection, the waste-to-energy plant is decisive for achieving the plant self-sufficiency, the overcoming of landfills, the reduction of emissions and the improvement of collection. At the conclusion of the work of the commission and on the basis of its examination, we will prepare the call for tenders, in which any elements for improvement can be introduced. It will also be shortly appointed the independent Observatory and its Technical-Scientific Committee - continues the mayor - which will have the objective of monitoring the
environmental impact of the plants and of the implementation of the Plan.
For the first time Rome has a strategic and organic project on waste, at the end of which Roman men and women will be able to live in a city that is finally as clean as it deserves".
