Intensive relief efforts were carried out by the As-Suwayda Governorate with its various public, private, civil and community institutions and activities to receive the earthquake-affected arrivals and secure their requirements and needs under the supervision of the relief sub-committee.

A member of the Relief Committee in As-Suwayda Governorate, Raghadi Al-Ghouthani, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the committee, in coordination and cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent branch, charitable and civil societies, and the local community in As-Suwayda, worked to secure the needs of the expatriate families affected by the earthquake, including foodstuffs, first aid, clothes, mattresses, blankets, and other supplies. With the civil society in the governorate hosting families and securing free housing for them.

Al-Ghouthani indicated that the number of families coming to As-Suwayda from the affected areas has reached, to date, more than 180 families, and continuous tours are organized by those concerned with the governorate to see their needs, with a study being conducted to secure job opportunities for any members of those families who wish to stay in the governorate during the coming months.

According to Al-Ghouthani, a field kitchen was completed at the initiative of the civil society and in coordination with the governorate, so that it would work for one day every week, after more than one person announced their desire to support the field kitchen initiative. every week.

According to the head of the Red Crescent branch in Suweida, Dr. Nawaf Qarmoushi, first psychological aid was provided to those affected, and assessment and referral were provided to each beneficiary according to need, with follow-up and provision of psychological counseling and awareness of safety measures when needed, in addition to health services as well as networking with community initiatives through the branch to secure what is possible. of needs.

And Qarmoushi indicated that the number of earthquake-affected people who benefited from the Red Crescent’s assistance in the governorate has reached 280 people, as they were provided with food baskets, mattresses, blankets, mats, chargers, kitchen baskets and diapers for children, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, the World Food Program and the German Red Cross.

According to the Director of Health in As-Suwayda, Dr. Tariq Al-Jamal, since the earthquake occurred and the arrival of the arrivals, the Directorate has worked to follow up the health status of the arrivals and provide the necessary health, treatment and awareness services for them, while referring any case that requires admission to the hospital for follow-up within its departments.

Al-Jamal explained that the medical response teams in the directorate continue, in coordination with the governorate, associations and organizations concerned with relief and health affairs, to monitor the health conditions of these families on a daily basis, and to provide basic medical services through mobile clinics, health centers and Martyr Zaid Al-Shariti Hospital, which includes dispensing medicines according to the availability of them, and securing needs. necessary for them, study the food situation and take the vaccine for children under five years and pregnant women.

For his part, the Secretary of the Revolutionary Youth Union branch in As-Suwayda, Firas Raad, explained that the branch allocated the second phase of the “Fear of People” campaign, which targets families affected by the earthquake for those coming to the province, after a first phase in which direct aid was sent to the affected provinces, while the head of the National Union of Students’ branch stated Wafaa Al-Aflaq, a Syrian woman in As-Suwayda, said that the youth volunteer team delivers food baskets to expatriate families, and coordinates with those concerned in the governorate and the people to secure the necessary housing for them.
