About two years after the current generation of the Hyundai Santa Fe was launched in Israel in diesel versions only, a hybrid gasoline version joins the range of models for customers looking for a large recreational vehicle with 7 seats and environmentalists.

The Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid is equipped with a drive unit also known from the Tucson and Kia Sportage hybrids.
It is a combination of a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine that delivers 180 hp and 27 kgm along with an electric motor with a power of 59 hp, which together create a combined power of 225 hp.
The gearbox is a planetary automatic with six transfer ratios when the hybrid Santa Fe can be had in a front- or dual-wheel drive configuration.
The performance is slightly better than in the diesel version, when with front-wheel drive the hybrid Santa Fe accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, while with the dual-wheel drive, an additional 0.2 second is required.
The average fuel consumption is 15.6 and 13.5 km per liter, respectively, according to the manufacturer's data.

The safety specifications in both versions of the hybrid Santa Fe include autonomous emergency braking systems even in reverse, a brake to actively maintain the driving lane, detection and prevention of crossing into an unoccupied lane and adaptive cruise control.
The front-wheel drive version comes to Israel with a 'Superim' finish level that includes, among other things, a multimedia system with an 8-inch screen, a digital dashboard with a variable display, a smart key, electrically adjustable front seats and a panoramic sunroof.
The dual-wheel drive version comes in an 'elite' trim level that also adds heating and ventilation to the front seats and a set of peripheral cameras for a 360 view.

The price of the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid starts at NIS 310,000 for the Superim trim level and NIS 335,000 for the Elite trim level.
In both cases, the price is about NIS 40,000 higher than the corresponding diesel models.
