A few months ago we revealed in "Israel Hayom" that IDF soldiers are not allowed to fly over Oman and Saudi Arabia. Following the "Israel Hayom" exposure, the IDF announced that soldiers will indeed be able to fly over Oman and Saudi Arabia.
Despite the response of the IDF, the order has not yet been officially accepted, even though the flights over Oman and Saudi Arabia have already started.
The direct flights to Thailand currently only go over Oman and Saudi Arabia and Al Al is the only airline that operates direct flights on this route.
The flights operated by the foreign airlines such as Emirates, Turkish, Etihad and most of the airlines with which many Israelis fly to Thailand also fly over Saudi Arabia and Oman, but as mentioned, the IDF has not yet issued a directive that officially authorizes soldiers to fly over Oman and Saudi Arabia.

According to estimates, the decision is expected to be made very soon, sources close to the matter tell us that the IDF is expected to authorize IDF soldiers and permanent personnel to fly over Oman and Saudi Arabia on the new route, but as mentioned, the decision has not yet been officially made even though in practice, all flights to the East are already passing on this path.
As mentioned, El Al started operating direct flights to Thailand that pass over Oman and Saudi Arabia last Sunday.
As a result, the flights were shortened from almost 11 hours to only eight hours.
Cathay Pacific also flies to Hong Kong on this route, Air India to India over Oman and Saudi Arabia and so does any flight that should take off to the central-southern regions of Asia.
